Publisher's Summary

A terrifying novel of a young man who is willing to defy everything. Even death....

Fabian Hightower has been killed in a car crash. At least, that is what a policeman is asking Alex, his mother, to believe. But Alex knows she saw him that morning - at a time when he must have been dead.

When the funeral is over Alex tries hard to forget her bizarre experience. But her mind seems to be playing strange tricks on her, turning her grief into horror. When she turns to a medium her worst fears are realised. Fabian has unfinished business, and he is determined to come back. But why?

Whatever the answer, something terrifies the medium so much she refuses to return. Alex longs to turn to others for support. But there is a secret about Fabian that only she knows - a secret she must never share....

"Genuinely frightening...only Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Stephen King's The Shining have scared me as much." (Evening Standard)

Peter at his creepiest

quite a good little horror story. though I wasn't overly convinced with the ending. It needed something else I think. a bit predictable yet still left a lot of questions unanswered.

Ok I guess

One grain I hate is when a writer at the start of a book explains where he got his story from ....personally I just want the story. It started off well and I enjoyed it a lot. The Ending was obvious.

Never Again

When will I learn? Once again I find a horror book by this author to be absolutely awful, a writer in this genre he is not. Been bitten too many times...……..

Different

Couldn't put it down but then the ending was abrupt and obscure, some untied threads.

Normally love Peter James's books

Normally enjoy Peter James's books but this one was good up to the last few chapters. The story felt like it was missing big chunks and I found it hard to follow. Still unsure about what actually happened. Can't talk about it because I don't want to spoil it for anyone that might want to listen. Disappointed.

Narrator

Normally I love Peter James, but on this occasion I could not bear the narrator! He sounds as though he is straight out of a stately home with the nasal intonation often heared. Sorry Peter, its coming back, I cannot listen to him.

Dated nonsense

Originally released 32 years which means aspects of the story are very dated. Sadly I found the ending ludicrous and utterly predictable.

Kept me listening

Nice touch peter James introduction. Good storyline. Narrator Charlotte Stevens excellent. Would definitely recommend anyone who likes this topic.
