Publisher's Summary

A routine commercial flight disappears over the North Pole. No wreckage. No transponder signals.

Mitch Matthews is writer struggling to make ends meet when his wife's brother offers them a first-class seat on a flight from Hong Kong to New York. When his wife needs to stay behind, it becomes an opportunity for some quality daddy-daughter time with his five-year-old Lilly. At check-in, they run into a strange Norwegian arguing with a huge Russian. A mysterious redhead is guarding a package in the business lounge. But everything is fine...right up until the event.

Within hours of Allied Airlines 695 disappearing, a massive international search is launched. Aircraft and ships are dispatched from Russia, America, Canada, and Norway. How can a modern airliner simply vanish in one of the most heavily monitored places on Earth?

Global tensions rise. The media and grieving families whip into a frenzy. The armed forces of America and Russia tip the world toward the brink of an apocalyptic war.

Weeks later, found on the ice in a chance discovery, the journal of Mitch Matthews reveals the incredible truth behind the disappearance of Allied 695, and what really happened in the Polar Vortex.

Well worth your time

An excellent modern thriller by Mr Mather, that unlike some critical reviewers kept me guessing and very entertained until the bitterly cold ending. Superb voice acting by Tom Taylorson - i could hardly believe that so many characters were brought to audio life by one person.
Thankyou for sharing your stories with us Matthew, your words did make a difference my friend.

Captivating and an interesting end

Really enjoyed this book, it kept me interested and glued to my earphones. I had a feeling about the reason for everything at the end, and I loved how the author managed to balance the subtle hints without making it obvious.

Loved it!

Fantastic book - had me hooked from start to finish. Just the right balance of details and dialogue, the failure of which is something that has made other books unlistenable for me. Makes me grateful for audiobooks or else I wouldn't have been able to get anything done with my nose in a book! Took me until two thirds of the way through to realise all the characters were voiced by the same guy, he did a really good job with the many various accents. Highly recommend, I'm off to find more books from this author!

Predictable

A good premise but I knew why/ who very early on and then it just seemed to drag on from there as it was so obvious and predictable . Was hoping for a bit more intrigue but ended up sadly disappointed. The narrator was excellent. Maybe just not my genre...

Not my cup of tea...

I agree with a previous review. Way too woke.
Very slow in parts.
Does not really qualify as Sci Fi.

Don't bother - weak and woke writing

I had high expectations for this novel. Sadly I was very disappointed. The writing is weak and WOKE. I can only assume that author Mather is a far left climate radical. Tom Taylorson's narration was good.
