About this listen

The game's on, and the girls are out to win....

In the glossy world of footballers’ WAGs, love is the toughest game of all.

Jean Bennett, aspiring jewellery designer, knows as much about football as she does astrophysics. But when she moves to the bright lights of Sydney and falls in love with star footballer Josh Fox, she has to learn - fast.

Thrown eyelashes-first into the world of WAGs, Jean is way out of her league. She navigates her way through semi-finals, a gruelling social calendar and salacious scandals on Josh’s arm, safe in the knowledge he belongs to her - or so she thinks. But as her hair gets blonder, her heels higher and her tops lower, Jean begins to wonder who she’s become....

Critic Reviews

"This glam and 'fictional' exposé of the lives of WAGS is a rollicking read." (NW)

"An engaging and fun contemporary tale with fabulously wry wit." (New Idea)

I love Zoe, this just wasn't for me. Filled with garish stereotypes and cultural faux pas. Also the narrator seemed to be put strange emphasis on the text.

Not really worth it

the story went on too much. very whiney characters , not sure if this is how Aussies really sound! the narrators voice grated on my nerves quite a bit. didn't like the abrupt ending. I think that Foxy would have had to say a bit more before the last question.

ok story

What an ending??? After a long dragging story that can go into too much detail..the ending doesn't match! it's like the author ran out of word count!

Ok for distraction

I listened to this while pottering around the house. It was a fun story and the narrator was pretty good.

Great for listening to around the house

I usually love ZFB but this one lost me. A little juvenile and quite boring at times, not the usual literary sophistication. Okay for a casual listen if you want to listen to something you're not overly invested in.

lost me

I read this book years ago and when I found out Zoe was finally releasing a new novel I decided to revisit her old books.
I liked this story as much for the storyline as for the insight into the world of WAGS. Don’t forget Zoe was one. I think that personal experience adds an authenticity that mere research can’t deliver.
I’ve read the other reviews and wholeheartedly agree that the ending was way too abrupt. Whether perhaps Foster-Blake was contemplating a sequel…who knows, but there’s certainly room for one.

The Wild World of WAGS!!

This is the 3rd Z.Foster-Blake novel that I've binged in a row, none of them are outstanding but all are very binge worthy!

I have read this book twice as a paper back and this audio book still had me hooked til the very last minute. The narrators intonation was very engaging and added to Zoë’s witty writing. Loved it!!

Hooked til the end

I quite enjoyed the book and the narration was fantastic but the ending was really disappointing…
