Story
It's been several years since Jess and Hannah Ballard foiled a cataclysmic prophecy that could have destroyed their fellow Durupinen, an ancient clan of women who allow spirits to cross between the worlds of the living and the dead. The girls swore, after the devastation and chaos they endured, they would never get caught up in the inner workings of the Durupinen again. They were wrong.

Publisher's Summary
Once every five years, the Northern Clans of the Durupinen gather at Fairhaven Hall. There, at the ancient castle, surrounded by the very spirits they are bound to protect and serve, the clans settle disputes and shape the laws that govern the Gateways to the spirit world. For the first time, Jess and Hannah Ballard have to represent their clan. It is an awesome responsibility - a great honor...and they are sure it's going to be the most boring week of their lives.
Oh, how very wrong they are.
For something dangerous is stalking the halls of Fairhaven. It lies in wait, striking down victim after victim, undetectable and inescapable. No one knows what it is, or what it wants, but one thing is clear: no one is safe until it is captured.
As their fellow Durupinen fall victim one by one, it will be up to Jess and Hannah, the newest members of the Trackers, to solve the mystery before the entirety of the castle is possessed.

The Twins are Back in England again
It's time again for the once every 5 years meeting, and the twins are forced to return to England again. From there things go awry as usual...also as usual fear of their powers isolates and semi-imprisons them. Isn't it always more to do with the fear of the unknown which causes people to take action in desperate ways, wars, imprisonment, hatred, and so on. Will the counsel learn their fear of the unknown causes all their major issues, and causes them to continue to mistrust the twins?

Great coming of age fantasy with strong female characters
This is the 5 th book in the series. I’m really enjoying it. I love the strong female characters who overcome serious obstacles to success but keep persevering. Milo, a male ghost, and Savvy, a good friend to Jess, lend humor.

Another amazing read!
I absolutely love E.E. Holmes Gateway series! It's clever, witty, hilarious, and one of the best ghost stories I've ever ready! I know there is a 4th book that came out, after Awakening of the Seer, but it's not on Audio yet. Please make an audio version! I love being able to get all my work done -home and actual work- while listening to books! It makes the time go by so much faster! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE these books! I hope they never end!

Hard to stop listening to these books
This is the 2nd book in the 2nd trilogy sets I cannot wait to move on to the next. The narrator is excellent, acting out the various characters with their different accents with great skill. Each chapter leaves you hungry to move to the next. E.E.Holmes weaves intriguing mysteries and challenges for the twin sisters Hannah and Jess who despite still coming to terms with their powerful gifts remain firmly grounded. Highly recommend this and all the books about these strong characters. Very well written and totally absorbing.

Love story
The narration is terrible the English accents really hurt my ears and made me cringe. You can really tell it’s an American trying poorly to have London accent, some mind like something from Merry Poppings and we don’t talk like that.

Loved it, but...
I love all of this series and enjoyed this story, however, a couple of the accents are really off-putting and spoilt it for me, particularly Fiona's and David's.

Excellent continuation of the saga of the Ballard ladies.
The characters ring true, the story is moving and exciting, and clearly a lot of thought has gone in to this. Also beautifully recorded and performed. Well worth your time.
