To bring a serial killer to justice, I’ll have to risk everything. A fae serial killer is on the loose targeting humans and I’ve been brought in to track him down. Except there’s a catch - I have to work alongside Corbin Frost again. Corbin is hot as Hell and acts as if he owns me because he’s the only one who knows about my unusual fae powers. The reason he hasn’t turned me in is because I’ve got dirt on him, too. Dirt about his hidden demon side, which I think might secretly like me.

I’m the bounty hunter you call when you want the job done. But what people don’t know is that I’m a rare half-fae with the sort of powers the Unseelie will kill for. That’s why I let everyone think I’m human and I always work alone. Until now. Corbin Frost has been assigned to my latest case, and working with the Unseelie Enforcer - especially one who is a hybrid fae demon - isn’t going to be easy. He’s here because there are Fae markings on the dead body.

I’m Jinx, a private investigator, a truth seeker, and a wizard. You'd think of all those skills would make it so easy for me to get to the heart of things. And honestly? I thought I knew what had happened to my parents that night. But I've taken a tumble down the rabbit hole and everything I thought I knew was topsy turvy. I'm trying to get my head screwed on right, but some rude SOB keeps trying to kill me. Worse, I think it's the same guy that targeted my parents. I need to stay alive long enough to bring him to justice. The problem with that is that it looks like we've got a mole.

I’m Jinx, a run-of-the-mill private investigator...except I’m also a walking, talking lie detector. Oh, and I belong to magical realm known as the Other. Murder isn’t usually my gig, but when I’m hired to investigate the death of a dryad called Reggie, I agree to help out because I know his grieving widow. It should be an easy case to crack, a mugging gone wrong, but the murder scene photos show it was anything but. Reggie’s death has all the hallmarks of my parents’ murders so I’ll stop at nothing to finding his killers.

I’m Jinx. As a private investigator, being a walking, talking lie detector is a useful skill - but let’s face it, it’s not normal. When I’m hired to find a missing university student, I hope to find her propped up at a bar - yet my gut tells me there’s more to this case than a party girl gone wild. She’s also being tracked by the implacable and oh-so-sexy Inspector Stone. Stone and I team up, and he shoves me into a realm where magic is real – a place where there are vampires and werewolves, dragons and trolls.

Publisher's Summary
A warning from the past, an uncertain future, an impossible choice....
For hundreds of years, the Durupinen have carried the power of the Gateway in their bloodlines. Now, a dire warning from the past might mean that power must come to an end. Jess Ballard has often considered her gift a curse - but now it may truly become one, unless she can convince the leaders of the Durupinen world to restore the power of the Gateways where it rightly belongs. The Durupinen have always considered themselves a force for what is good in the world, but has the intoxication of power left them unable to distinguish between what is right and wrong?
Jess, Hannah, Milo, and their allies are in a race against time as they gather together the most influential Durupinen from around the world to join the fight. As the Necromancer threat looms, and the Durupinen leaders battle over which course to take, Jess must travel her own path, look within herself, and ask: How far will she go to right an ancient wrong, and will her connection to the spirit world survive it?

If this was the last book...
I enjoyed it, I have enjoyed the whole series too. If this was the last book for the series, I will be sad of course. Yet it wrapped up enough of the story to be enjoyable and it allows for more books too, but in a slightly different direction. I won't spoil the story for you but just know it is an interesting journey and as always a bumpy and interesting one.

Entertaining Series
I enjoyed this series, even though a few events/actions were so far-fetched they made me roll my eyes. There were many unique spiritual concepts and lots of action and entertaining personal relationships to ponder. I especially liked the way the author wrapped up the series with a "happy ending" epilogue.
I would, however, like to offer one small piece of advice to E.E.Holmes: Whenever you finish a rough draft, search for the phrase "let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding," and delete all but one. I think every book in the series contained this, or a similar phrase, 3 times or more!
