Eigentlich will die Fee Franca den armen und einsamen Puppenbauer Geppetto glücklich machen, indem sie ihm ein Kind zaubert. Allerdings ist sie im Zaubern ziemlich unfeeig. Statt eines Kindes wird die Holzpuppe lebendig, an der Geppetto gerade schnitzt. So beginnen Pinocchios bekannte Abenteuer, die ihn von einem Schlamassel in den nächsten führen. Begleitet wird er dabei von einem Holzwurm in seinem Ohr. Und Pinocchio beweist, dass er aus härterem Holz geschnitzt ist als gedacht.
