About this listen

Frank Peretti thrills millions with his suspense-filled, best-selling inspirational Darkness series, which portrays unforgettable confrontations between angelic and demonic forces. The first book in the series, This Present Darkness, topped Christian fiction lists. Now, the great spiritual war continues in Piercing the Darkness.

In the small town of Bacon's Corner, powerful demons are working to ensnare the souls of the townspeople. A woman has been murdered, the Christian school is under attack, and the town is divided by a legal struggle. As heavenly beings rally to aid the faithful, gigantic evil ones are on the alert, looking for any sign of weakness.

Each fast-paced chapter of this novel is filled with vivid descriptions of angels and demons. And the trials of the believers are no less absorbing. Richard Ferrone's dramatic narration highlights each test of faith and truth.

Read the books years ago, was excited to own the unabridged version of this book. I learned more about spiritual warfare and it's realities from this book.
I could always relate to the experiences in so many situations.
Great story good characters seemed to share so many areas that we as Christians can be very ignorant of.

the narrator is good, at times his female voices can sound very similar to his male voices. other than that he read the book for over 20hours can't hold that against him.

Still a great book

Excellent and highly recommended by this reader!!. I loved hearing this story of spiritual warfare set in a small American farming town of Bacon's Corner. Story was all the more interesting due to present day parallels of attacks to religious freedom in schools. I thought the story was very well written - detailed descriptions of scenery and great characterisation. I particularly liked Marshall Hogan as well as Tom and Sally. The narration was brilliant - Richard has a wonderful capacity to use his voice to portray characters, whether human or spiritual.

Captivating! Great story, narrated brilliantly

I first read this book in the early 90’s and I was compelled to take another look at it recently while revisiting some matters from that time of my life. I have been as entertained and rewarded just the same as I was all those years ago. A great story with a great Christian message. I recommend this book for anyone who needs encouragement and the satisfaction that comes from being enveloped by a great story.

Great story, great message.

I was so uncomfortable listening to the beginning of this, even though Frank E Peretti’s first book was great.
This one mentions ‘spanking’ children in a school as a form of discipline and it couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s child abuse. Nothing less.
Just because they’re Christian, doesn’t make it right…
Big thumbs down from me on this one.

Hitting children in the name of discipline
