About this listen

Her silence destroyed him. Only the truth will set them free.

Catherine has experienced something so traumatic that she can't speak. Or won't speak. The doctors say the only way forward is to look into her past.

Fifteen years ago, Catherine met the love of her life at university. Lucian was charming, adored her and she was drawn into the hedonistic and careless lifestyle of his wealthy friends. They were inseparable - then one morning Catherine left him without a word.

She married, had two children, and was convinced she'd moved on. But when they are unexpectedly reunited, the memories of their intoxicating love affair come rushing back. They could be that boy and girl again, and this time get it right. To do that, Catherine will have to tell Lucian why she left all those years ago.

She's lived with the truth. But can he?

Intriguing.

The male voice changed with clear edit points which was distracting. The story was sad, funny and engaging

Great story, very emotional.

Engaging story that left me invested in the main characters. Not the ending I would have chosen.

Tho others criticised the slowness of this book, had they persisted, they would have understood. Her decline didn't happen overnight. It was important to take the time to develop the story to reflect this. Whilst the main story was a little obvious, how it ended wasn't so it was well worth getting to the end. The narration was excellent, tho the gentle darkness did get a tad too much towards the end. The only thing I didn't love was the constant name dropping. It reminded me of a teenager dreaming about drinking their first scotch or having their first kiss after watching an episode of Madmen...all too cliched. All in all tho, great book, well worth the read!

Slow burn was excellent

So slow, boring and repetitive, not only the story but also the narration.
I couldn’t listen past chapter 23. So in all fairness it might get better but I lost the will to try .

Slow
