Story
Sunset Park is gone. People are missing. Sylvie, Eric, and the other survivors have crossed the water to the security of a new Safe Zone, where they hope to heal their battered hearts, amass an armory, and get back at the ones who took it all away. But with zombies on the move and few resources to speak of, it’s harder than expected to plot their revenge. For some, it’s harder still to garner their resolve, since vengeance means more of them will die. But safety is ephemeral in a city where food is short and tensions are high. It seems fate may leave them no choice but to fight.

But when the two are trapped in a hospital during the last gasp of a dying city, alone time is no longer an option. A nurse's offer of sanctuary promises Sylvie the supplies she needs to survive the zombies - it's the coexisting with people that might do her in. Eric Forrest will do whatever it takes to get into the dead city for his sister, including ending up dead himself. He's used to taking risks, but with every mile he travels death looks likelier.

Cassie Forrest isn't surprised to learn that the day she’s decided to get her life together is also the day the world ends. Story
Cassie Forrest could almost believe life at Kingdom Come Farm is perfect, with Adrian and her friends at her side and spring on the way. The spring thaw also means millions of defrosting zombies, however, and if the past year has taught her anything, it's that life in this new world is highly imperfect. When Safe Zones throughout the country begin to disappear and the zombies at the fences grow in number, Cassie clings to the hope that if she has the people she loves most, it will be all right.

Publisher's Summary
From the universe of the Until the End of the World series
Book two of The City Series is here! (Note: The City Series can be heard before or after the Until the End of the World series)
Months into the apocalypse, the zombies show no signs of dying, but it's clear everyone in Sunset Park will die without enough food to outlast the undead. Add in the less-than-sociable new neighbors only blocks away, and the hunt for sustenance has come to feel more like a race than a ramble.
Sylvie is happy in her new home with the people who've become like family, though she's still working out how to let them into her heart. Eric wants in, and he wants to find his sister, but he can't do both at the same time. If he can do the second one at all - getting into the city was hard enough, getting out may prove impossible.
Despite setbacks - and a couple million zombies - it seems fortune is working in their favor. After all, food, security, and family are extraordinary when just being alive is a notable accomplishment. But fortune can turn on a dime, and all it takes is one misstep.

Narration not half as good as book 1
I forced myself to listen till the end as the story itself was just good enough to want to know what happened next. Therese did a good job as narrator but Luke was cringeworthy. Sometimes i had to check If my speed settings were correct as he just raced through the text. His reading of the lead female character’s voice was extremely creepy.

Fix the audio!
I love the author and I love her books but changing the way the narrators read it for this book was really jarring and it’s subpar to the first book. Keep all the ladies read by Therese and all the men by Luke. The worst was Leo who seemed years different in age depending on who read him. Sylvie and Eric both were not captured well by the opposite genders, it’s like they didn’t even listen to each other’s portrayals. Not sure why it was changed but it was a huge fail and disappointment.

Another great book in the End of the World series. I have been devouring these books since last week. So good!!!!! Love the world the author has created but even more I love all the City descriptions and I feel like I am there (thankfully not the situation just the city lol) So much happened in this book but the ending was SOOO Hard! Can't wait to see how this ends in the next book. I hope it's with a little closure and hope for change. Therese Plummer and Luke Daniels were great but I have to say who ever Proofed this audiobook did a terrible job!!!! I caught multiple mistakes. This is recorded in duet style but there are parts were Therese narrates the male parts in her female voice and parts were she narrates the male voice in her male voice when Luke is supposed to be narrating all the male parts. Not blaming the narrators but the proofers or who ever splits the book into who does what parts.

It was okay!
The story itself was decent but Sylvie's character got on my last nerve. I didn't like the way they switched up the narration. In the first book the woman read all the female parts and the man read all the male part which really gets you engaged. This book the female read everything in the Sylvie chapters. If there is a third book I hope they do the narration the way they did in the first on.

Ready for the next book
I hope the next book is written and ready to go, I’m so ready for it! I don’t think that liking or disliking zombies really matter much when listening to this book, actually all the books she’s written. You get so involved with knowing, loving or maybe disliking the characters (not too many to dislike), that you want them to do whatever it takes to survive. As I listened I could picture so much in my mind, Ms Fleming does a awesome job of making everything so real. Hope there’s a new book soon!! This book could be for any YA thru senior...I’m 67yrs old!

Easily one of the best zombie series ever written. The author actually takes the time to insert you directly into the relationships and feelings of the stories main characters. You will see what they see and feel as they feel, it is an end of the world scenario like no other. Don’t miss out on this one.

Sarah's books are amazing!!!
Sarah Lyons Fleming is such an amazing writer!!!. Her characters draw you in and invite you to play along!!! The only drawback was Luke Daniels performance. At times you couldn't tell which character was which. And after Audible fixed this book from its previous performance, it was still off in so many places!!! Luke or Therese would be reading the wrong parts at times. I sometimes wonder if Audible even proof listens to the work being produced. Thankfully, with that being said, Sarah's story still kept me engaged.

Humor, Zombies and Some Romance
I was very impressed with the first book in the series, and equally impressed with the second. There was a moment where I was saying to myself, wait .. this is a romance book .. what am I doing listening to a chick lit offering. But throw in some apocalypse adventure and a little humor and deep relationship commitments and it looks like I am on board full throttle.
The third book in the series has yet to be published so I did a little research on the author and found out there are related books from the same world focusing on the lost sister of Eric Forrest - Cassie. I will now have to find out if her story will match the intensity of the incredible main protagonist, Sylvie in this City Series.
Eric and Sylvie got some bad news in this book when looking for Cassie. It looked like she did not make it. Now I will find out for sure in the "Until the End of the World" series.
I will not reveal much of the plot - it is more fun to just let this good book unfold. But, be prepared for some heartbreak - not all of the main characters make it to the end.

Change in narration from first book throws you off
Would you try another book from Sarah Lyons Fleming and/or Therese Plummer and Luke Daniels ?
Yes, I enjoy the authors writing style and will continue to listen to her books. However, the change in the narration style from the first book is very disappointing. The narrators were great in the first book. Therese did all of the female voices and Luke did all of the male voices. In this book, They were really able to bring each character to life with individual personalities. In this second book, Therese does ALL of the voices for the Sylvie chapters and Luke does ALL of the voices fro the Eric chapters. The inconsistency is very distracting and throws off the ability to get lost in the story.
What did you like best about this story?
I like ve pst apocalyptic stories and the humanity of people coming together in difficult situations
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Therese Plummer and Luke Daniels ?
I think they do a good job narrating the characters of their own gender and the book would have been better if the narration was done the same as in book one.

loved it 👍
Loved all the books in this series and the end of the world series. Brilliant, compelling story that had me gripped from the start and blubbering and laughing at different parts. The only series of books that I sometimes rewound a bit just to drag it out a bit! I can't wait for episode 3, but I'll have to wait a few months so no idea how I'll cope without the brilliant characters that I grew so fond of and who I'll miss until the next time 😢

I'm in love with this author and her zombies!
After having listened to all of the "Until the End of the World" books, I was thrilled when I found out that Sarah Lyons Fleming was writing a new series that is set in the
Until the End of the World universe but with diffrent characters (You don't have to have read UTEOTW in order to understand and follow Mordacious).
Both Mordacious and Peripeteia are wonderfully written,it takes place in NYC and there is never a dull moment and you can't help but fall in love with the characters. I have laughed out loud and sobbed like a baby listening to Peripeteia! It's a must for any Apocalyptic fan, you'd be crazy not to read it!
Can't wait for book 3!!!

totally hook on these series
all the emotions come out listening to this series , brilliant books. performances are good thou dont really like that with this book they read for both genders so that the same character had two voices bit confusing and really like the first books voices. other then that amazing to listen too and epic to read. Edit- hear they might 're record the voices, fingers crossed.

Awsome second part
If you've gotten this far then it's because you love both the series. I'll never tire listening to them. The performances in the other books are outstanding, and the characters are always just so compelling. No one is without point or reason. I have one complaint in the entire of these series, why change the vocal performance format? It was perfect in the first book of this series and to go from that to this was cringey. I got over it, i preferred the woman's version than the male doing female voices. I just don't see why there was a change.

Brilliant
Love this series of books. The books are so much more than about Zombies, human nature in the raw and how people live when society breaks down. More please.

Great second story
I loved the first series and the first book of this series. This second book continues to entertain. I laughed and even cried, and was almost inconsolable at one point! Excellent narration also. Highly recommend.
