Glücklicherweise taucht Stevie unbeschadet wieder auf, doch kurz darauf wird eine Frauenleiche aus der Themse geborgen - bekleidet mit einem ebensolchen Mantel. Es handelt sich um Julia Kelburn, Tochter eines schwerreichen Verlegers, die vor ihrem Tod in ein Geflecht aus dunklen Machenschaften verwickelt war. Doch Temple gilt nicht zu Unrecht als der Beste seines Fachs und löst auch diesen Fall auf die feine englische Art.
In den 60er-Jahren war die WDR-Hörspielreihe um Paul Temple von Francis Durbridge ein "Straßenfeger". Zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts wurde die Serie wiederentdeckt und erlangte Kultstatus.
