Während einer erholsamen Zeit an der englischen Ostküste kommt es zu einem seltsamen Vorfall: Paul und seine Frau Steve werden in ihrem Boot von einem Kliff herab beschossen. Dieselbe Nachricht steht auf dem Zettel, den Sylvia einem etwas dubiosen Musiker in einem Londoner Tanzlokal übergibt.
