Publisher's Summary

It’s Jonnie’s senior year, and her dream is to be the best wide receiver on the Buccaneers’ football team. But when she walks onto the field, the guys aren’t looking at her like they used to - especially her best friend and captain of the team Skyler.

Skyler’s floored when he sees his best friend Jonnie after being gone all summer. Growing up, she was the tomboy he chased around the playground, but now? He’s got a different game in mind.

Football is easy. Falling in love with the wide receiver? Things couldn’t be more complicated.

Cute YA

Pass Me the Ball is a cute YA with a fast pace and adorable characters with good chemistry. I’m really interested in the next book in this series. The narrator gave a great performance with slightly differing voices for characters, yet not overly dramatic.

Excellent

I always enjoy the authors book, she mixes them with a sport and with love. Young love the joys and the mistakes, are show all in choices and maturing through them. The audio by Abilgail was good, had a clear voice, and was enjoyable to listen to her and added to the story. Both were well done, and definitely worth reading and listening to.

High school football

It’s a classic high school football story but with a pretty cool awesome twist. I haven’t the faintest idea of football and terminology but I got into the story that my lack of knowledge didn’t matter. It was very easy to follow. It was amusing to listen to the usual ups and downs of relationship of the teenage years. It was cool though that the relationship of the characters ran way deeper than a typical high school classmate. They had a lot of history! Loved the bonus chapter too!

Original take on friends to couple romance

I really enjoyed this story! Many of the friends to couple romances don’t have much of the “other girl” aspect, which makes this story an original take on the common theme. I liked how this story encompassed the “love triangle” and I look forward to the next story involving Aiden and Amberlyn. The narrator did a good job making me feel like I was there watching the story unfold.

a sweet HS romance

I think it's been a while since I've read a YA book that focuses on your typical HS relations between the football and cheerleader teams, but Pass Me The Ball by Julie L. Spencer just did the trick for me. I think it was fun getting to know Jonnie, the only girl in the football team, as well as Skyler, the QB. I liked how they have been friends since they were little, as well as how in sync they are on the field. However, things start to change for Skyler after Jonnie's dramatic transformation over the summer into an actual... woman, and all the rest of the football team noticing it along with him. Of course, this is further complicated by the fact that Skyler already has a girlfriend (leader of the cheer squad), who also happens to be Jonnie's best friend, and you're already set with the perfect HS recipe for drama.

What actually surprised me was how the fallout actually happened, as well as the reactions of everyone involved (didn't see it coming). Still, it's got me interested in Amberlyn's story, which I think explains a bit more the reactions that I didn't see coming in this one.

On the other hand, I think the narrator did a good job of differentiating the voices of the characters, though, to be honest, it took me a few chapters to get used to Jonnie's pitch since it could be a bit similar to those of the guys. And speaking of them, it also was a bit hard for me to follow who was speaking when they were in a football practice since it felt like there were way too many names to keep straight. Of course, once I could keep track of each of the guys, things became easier and the book that much more enjoyable.

All in all, a sweet HS romance that is perfect for fans of both the genre and this author.~ 4 stars

Content (mild spoilers): a girl questions if her boyfriend is gay because he hasn't "made a move on her". There's some innuendo; a girl laughs because her boyfriend has to leave "early" (or earlier than intended) after they have been making out. And, overall, just based on how chill the parents were with the couple and/or how things were depicted so far in the book, one could easily assume the MCs will end up having sex in their future.

Not bad for a high-school romance

This was a fast listen. Usually I don't like high-school romances, but this one was nice and clean. The teammates dating was a fun twist.

Enjoyed this YA romance

I really liked this YA romance (which typically isn't what I read). I love football and the other books I've read from this author I enjoyed. I'm so glad I took a chance on this, it was a fun, clean, sweet read. I liked how it ended.

The narration was well done.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Young love

Sometimes you might find love with a person you have known a rally long time. Johnnie returns after the summer all grown up. Skylar and members of the team are shocked by the transformation. Feelings become know hearts are broken but in the end HEA.
