Publisher's Summary

Lemmer se Eerste Algemene Wet: Moenie betrokke raak nie.

A gripping story with a twist

The plot keeps you wondering and guessing. Intrigue as only Deon Meyer can weave the threads of the storyline to have you holding your breath. The characters and events ring true, making it hard to believe this is a work of fiction. Meyers’s descriptions stir sensory truths of living in Southern Africa- smelling the first raindrops, leaves underfoot, the power of the veld, the earth, the sunsets, the animals. The theme of environmental protection and its urgency emphasises the all too real unnecessary killings of animals for trade in horns, tusks, alongside the overwhelming reality of power and how it corrupts. The characters are strongly and clearly depicted with a main character who slowly lets you in, draws you close. I couldn’t stop listening.

An English translation would appeal to all non-Afrikaans speaking readers/ listeners.
