Story
Hannah Hickok is struggling. After the death of one of her workers, a woman who had been making life difficult, Hannah finds she is awash in a myriad of feelings she can’t quite put a name to. Things don’t get better when, following a romantic dinner with her boyfriend, Cooper Wyatt, magic and mechanics collide in a multi-vehicle accident that looks to have been caused by a dark shadow. One of the survivors, a young teenager, could be shuffled into the system if someone doesn’t step up.
Publisher's Summary
Izzy Sage should be on top of the world, but the revenant threat has her watching her back. Things only get worse when an oddball cult looking for a door to another world show up on Belle Isle and start circling the parking lot while demanding entrance to the other side.
Izzy is out of her league when it comes to dealing with the group - especially their charismatic leader who pushes all of her buttons - and when a body drops outside the aquarium, her suspicion is piqued.
As much as she wants to focus on the revenants, the cult has to take priority. The more Izzy digs, the more disturbing information she finds. It seems at least one member has ties to Paris’ past and another cult run amok...and further ties just might lead to the current threat hanging over the reaper world’s heads.
Death is basically knocking on the door between worlds and it’s anybody’s guess who will answer.
That all pales in comparison to the bigger news. The Grimlock grandparents, Emmet and Mary, have arrived in Detroit...and they’re not happy. They have plans for each Grimlock - and their significant others - and they refuse to back down.
It’s utter chaos in the reaper world, and there’s trouble at every turn. Izzy has to sort it all out...if she survives long enough to untangle an unsavory bundle of threads that lead to mayhem and destruction, that is.

New twists and turns
I love this series it plot is unique and yet a carry over from the Grim series. I am very happy the grimlock clan is alive and well in this series. It gives a new twist to them while blending the new story line so well. I like that this author has brought all her series in to cross paths at some point. It makes for interesting twists. LOVED IT!
The Grimlock series was my favorite of all Lee’s many series, so I was really sad when it stopped after Book 9. But this series is Grimlocks 2.0 witj Izzy Sage, a bruha from New Orleans taking center stage. Since she is dating one of the Grimlock brothers, I get to continue the family’s exciting adventures. The family puts the fun in dysfunctional!

Great new story but...
I love this author and most of her series. Unfortunately, this story was heavily dependent on characters and events that were from one of the ones I didn't like. I tried to read it but halfway into the second book I was so bored I had to give up. Regardless of this, I love this series and am perfectly willing to sit through some Covenant college stuff in order to move forward in the Deathgate storyline. Good story. I just wish it wasn't so dependent on another series.

Izzy's Awesome!
This book was Great! Izzy's a truly a great character. The fact that we also have The Grimlocks too is just a huge bonus. The story starts with Izzy & Braden discussing the Grandparents visit. No-one is happy about that plus then the cult shows up in the parking lot of the aquarium all he'll brokes lose. Izzy's know something is coming. As always you have dinner and a show plus lots of lol moments. Fun read. About how good the story was. The narrator was wonderful brought you in made you feel like the you're right there with the characters wonderful. Can't wait for the next book I look forward to seeing all the interactions with the Covenant College it'll be wonderful.

A Roller Coaster Thrill Ride
In the latest book in the Death Gate Series, Ms Lee introduces us to the Grimlock grandparents, and boy, are they a couple of charmers. Lee seems to be channeling the late Robert Ludlum in this one: are you really sure who the good guys are? Are you really?? This one will keep you on the edge of your seats until the very end! I have only one criticism: are we really any closer to finding out what really happened to Izzy’s parents all those years ago? Don’t you dare miss this one!
