A luxury mountaintop chalet.

The opportunity of a lifetime.

Until guests start to disappear....

The unmissable new thriller from the queen of the modern-day murder mystery.

Snow is falling in the exclusive alpine ski resort of Saint Antoine, as the shareholders and directors of Snoop, the hottest new music app, gather for a make-or-break corporate retreat to decide the future of the company. At stake is a billion-dollar dot-com buyout that could make them all millionaires or leave some of them out in the cold.

The clock is ticking on the offer, and with the group irrevocably split, tensions are running high. When an avalanche cuts the chalet off from help and one board member goes missing in the snow, the group is forced to ask - would someone resort to murder to get what they want?

I couldn't stop listening to it!

This was a great story! I couldn't stop listening. A creepy murder mystery but not too scary or gory. I loved the setting and I liked the mix of characters. I think the narrator did a great job. This is the first book I've listened to by this author but I will definitely be looking at more by her.

This story format is very overdone.

If you have read The Hunting Party or that author's subsequent book, you've already read this. Bunch of not very likeable people, trapped by avalanche/snow, with no Wi-Fi or phone start to die one by one. I had to skip the last 3+ hours as I couldn't stand the overegged melodrama...racing hearts, pounding blood in ears yada yada.. no tension and obvious killer and generally wishing they all died asap. Cannot believe good reviews for this book.

Five stars all round!

A fabulous book! Ruth Ware has become my favourite author, with the exception of Agatha Christie who will never be surpassed in my book! This one was truly fabulous, loads of twists and turns, suspense and intrigue. Although I guessed fairly early on who the perpetrator was, the excitement of the book meant that that detract from my enjoyment. I love books that tie up all loose ends and leave no question unanswered, and this book most definitely didthat. Well done Ruth, a truly fabulous novel. Can’t wait til your next one.

Just fabulous!

Ruth Ware can do no wrong in my eyes, so, naturally, I pre-ordered this one and started to listen as soon as it dropped into my Audible library. It's a very modern whodunnit based around a group of people who all work for a company who developed a music social media app called Snoop. The Snoop team all visit a ski chalet in France, and one by one they die! Of course it's been done before but that doesn't make it any less entertaining. The location is atmospheric - a ski chalet in the mountains with cosy fur throws and a crackling fire. Sounds idyllic until it gets cut off by a massive snowstorm and avalanche. There are quite a few characters and it took me a while to work out who was who. The story is told from the POV of Erin, the chalet hostess, and Liz, a socially awkward member of the Snoop team. The book starts fairly slowly but then the pace picks up and I was thoroughly entertained and the ending had me holding my breath! The book is narrated by the brilliant Imogen Church who brings it to life beautifully.

Liz's voice was the final nail in the coffin

While I understand that doing the voice of 10 different people must be an incredibly difficult task for a narrator (and I have really enjoyed Imogen's narration in other books), the quivering scared voice she used to represent Liz in this book was SO irritating and over the top. And it was relentless... it was the final nail in the coffin for me.. Aside from the fact that I wanted to push Liz off a snowy mountain, the story was full of obnoxious characters and I really didn't like anyone so didn't care at all about what happened. While you will probably enjoy this book if you like The Woman in Cabin 10 (they are very similar in style), I wish I hadn't wasted a credit. I didn't even finish it – I got 80% through and instead Googled the plot ending. I don’t like leaving negative reviews and very rarely do so but this book was not for me. I can't say I enjoyed anything about it.

Another Stella thriller from the amazing Ruth Ware

If you have had the pleasure of reading Ruth Wares previous work you will be aware of her ability to create heart racing storylines, this one is no different. Imogen church is truly compelling as a reader and makes it hard to stop listening. Ruth ware is the best author going if you’re into psychological thrillers!! With characters you love to hate and twists you never see coming, one by one is a heart wrenching masterpiece.

Anther fab listen from Ruth Ware

A group of colleagues on a work retreat in a beautiful ,if somewhat isolated, chalet on a French mountain... what could go wrong? Lots is the answer - so much I fact that I couldn’t put this book down. The work group are gathered to bond and try to decide if they should accept a buy out offer for their listen along music app ‘Snoop’. After their first ski session one of the party has gone missing... this is followed by an avalanche causing the party to be stranded and cut off from the outside world. Next, ‘One by One’ the murders start. This was a great thriller in a fantastic setting, full of suspense. Like mamy others. I think it is almost like a modern day Agatha Christie novel. The final unexpected twist really surprised me and added a whole new perspective to what I had read. Another great story from Ruth Ware who has fast become one of my favourite authors of this genre. It was narrated beautifully by Imogen Church who I am also a fan of.

Highly recommended, all round 5 star!

I do enjoy Ruth Ware's books (especially her writing style and the various background settings to her books) so I started this book with very high expectations - and I'm delighted to say I was not disappointed. Once I started I could not stop listening, so beware if you think this is a book you can only listen to for a few hours a day. And I think this is definitely Imogen Church's best narration ever!
