Publisher's Summary

"There was a boy once. A boy who wasn’t strong enough to save me when I was taken."

"There was a girl once. A girl called Tess Snow who sat with me in the dark, waiting to be sold. There was an owner once. An owner who bought me, entrapped me, and made me his unwilling goddess."

Eleanor Grace is a naïve dreamer. Trusting and young, she believes her travel-loving boyfriend can save her when her freedom is snatched and sold. Squirrelled away to an island at dawn, delivered to a man even darkness won’t touch, she’s bound by a contract.

Four men.

Four fantasies.

Four pieces of her soul.

Sullivan Sinclair is the giver of fantasies. Any wish, any desire - he is the master at quenching even the filthiest appetites. His private paradise and perfectly trained goddesses are there for one purpose: to ensure every guest is extremely well satisfied.

He bought her.

He trapped her.

She belongs to him.

This book is everything.

Sully is everything. I fell in love with Pepper Winter's writing in tears of Tess and finally we get to delve back into that world. This book is dark and dirty, sexy and unique and I loved every minute of it. The duet narration only added to the greatness of the entire package. Five big fat stars.

Once a Myth

One night changes everything for Eleanor. One minute she is enjoying herself and touring the world with her new boyfriend and the next she finds herself a prisoner, one of many girls being bought and sold against their wills. Can she find a way to survive her new hell and return to the life she had before, or will she be lost like so many others who have tried and failed?

The plot of this story is an interesting concept, but it failed to hit the mark for this listener. Both Eleanor and Sully were over the top characters for me as well. The constant talk about being a vegetarian made it seem like this was written in an attempt to push that idea on to the listener and not a plot point. The story drags on and ends in the middle of a scene. Which did not have me wanting to get the next book all it did was irritate me. Narrators Sarah Puckett and Scott Rider keep the narrative flowing and work well together. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Unsatisfying

Problems: The story ends in the middle... not so much a cliffhanger, but just in the middle of a sex scene. There are a lot of words either misused by the author or mispronounced by the narrators. Repetitive boring parts. Characters that are not compelling or interestingly.

Twisted, Intense and Dark

Well one thing I'll say is that this book inspired strong feelings in me. Unfortunately, not all of them were good ones. Overall I thought the story itself was captivating in that "Can't look away, even if you want to and darn well know you should" way. It is an intense, dark, twisted and often disturbing tale that seriously pushes boundaries. As for Eleanor and Sully, they are complex characters. I thought Eleanor was spunky and I felt for her and the situation she found herself in. Sully for me was where things got to the breaking point. There are great book boyfriends that simply leave you swooning and the bad boy anti-heroes you love-to-hate and hate-to-love that make your heart beat faster and tempt you to walk on the dark side but Sully is none of these. I can forgive plenty of sins when I read. Do you lie, cheat, steal, bully or stalk? I'm sure if you just open up to me I'll understand. Murder or kidnapping? I'm sure you had valid reasons and were totally justified in doing so. However, I don't think you will ever make me feel that human trafficking and sexual slavery is right in any way, shape or form. Sully is in my opinion the worst type of human being and if this author can find a way to redeem him, it will be an epic miracle. Also, just so you know this book ends on a huge cliffhanger. #Audiobook Obsession

You know it's bad when you laugh at it

This was one of the worst dark romance/erotica I have read. I stopped while at chapter 8. Until then there wasnt a single good moment in the book. Anything worth reading. I wasn't at all turned on. Both H and h were ridiculous just as their conversations. The whole concept of 4 year work contracts as sex slave for kidnapped women, gods (pervert men), goddesses (traficked drugged women who just cant have enough of it), drug that makes horny plus animal rights and being vegan was too much. I smiled and rolled my eyes during the emotional ramblins which made no sense. The heroine was supposed to be smart but for me she just seemed loony.

A lot of the same *Spoiler Alert*

This book was a lot of the same thing for 30 chapters. The only thing new that happened was the introduction of Jealousy who was just a willing rendition of Jinx. Oh and the Parrot. Literally it was I want her I don’t want her you can’t have me for 30 chapters. Yet it landed on a cliff hanger as if it we’re building up to something we don’t know is going to happen. WE ALL KNOW, this is a romance novel. THEY WILL HAVE SEX. Why draw out this book like this. I’m surprised ms. Winters didn’t have more imagination than this. But guess what ... I’m gonna read the next one. The narrators were excellent.

The Queen Of Dark Romance

Pepper Winters is back and she is better than ever. If you are a fan of DARK romance just fork over the credit now. You will be so glad you did.

Seriously ladies when are we going to stop going backpacking with our boyfriends? You should just know that the minute you land shiz is about to get real. Eleanor finds herself in the hands of some RUTHLESS men, being sold to the highest bidder, She is whisked off to an Island owned by Sully Sinclair. And ladies and gents if there was ever a special place in the cold cockles of your heart for Jethro Hawk you are going to lose your mind over sully.

On this ethereal island depravity is the name of the game and Sully is the dealer. But even Sully isn't prepared for the likes of Eleanor. Their chemistry may set fire to your headset. She fights him at every turn. Their minds are telling them no but their bodies are having a different conversation. AND IT'S HOT!

I effing love an anti-hero and Pepper just delivers. I can't wait for this series to continue.

The narration is awesome!

Duet perfection!

Overall I'd rate the story 3.75 stars. For an 8 hour book I have to say not much happened. This is a captive story that is a little different than others. For starters the captives are more or less willing due to the elixir they take. Over time they want to be there with Sully. Where I struggled a bit is that there was too much internal dialogue IMO and overuse of certain words like goddess for example. The beginning was good and we even get a few cameos from characters in other books. The middle is where I needed more. I was a bit confused that the heroine went from not saying a peep when held by the traffickers to not being able to hold her tongue with Sully. I also would like to know what makes her so special to have everyone want her and not the other girls on the Island. The ending of course is where things finally get interesting and then bam it's over. I am a little concerned that this looks like at least a 5 book series. I have found that long book series tend to be drawn out and I hope that is not the case with this one. I absolutely loved Pepper's Monster in the Dark series so I am definitely going to continue and see where the story goes. I need to know what happens!

Narration was great! It was duet style and everything flowed perfectly.

4 stars

I will say that this book is a good start. Definitely one big build up. I almost wished there was more of a premise or prologue in the beginning because I feel like I'm missing 10% chunk of the story that it just sort of jumped right into the action. Fans of Tess will get a nice cameo. I liked that Pepper is connecting her other books. Of course Pepper sure knows how to leave a cliffy though. I'm really wondering how this entire series will play out and I look forward to them!

Sarah and Scott both did a great job narrating. Love the Duet narration. This is a first listen by Scott and he was great!

What just happened?!?!?!

Pepper Winters has seriously outdone herself!! This is one of her darkest books yet!! We get a taste of the twisted world of human trafficking. Once a Myth is addictive. I'm in awe of the strength and sheer determination Eleanor exhibits. Sully is the Pide Piper bringing all the rich and darkly twisted men out to play at his forbidden island with any treat they could want... in the form of a stolen girl or woman. I can't even tell you all, how insanely addictive this story was... it was everything I need in an occasional mindfudge!

Sarah Puckett was fabulous! I loved that she didn't make Eleanor sound weak. She might have been in a difficult situation but she had a steel spine and Puckett really gave her strength. It's hard to find that line between that girl that has been taken and is scared to the strength she shows. Sarah Pucket brought her to life. This was my first time listening to Scott Rider but I really enjoyed his deep voice. Sully is a no-nonsense voice that edges on cruel while still sounding sexy.

Loved This Book!!!

I absolutely love Dark Romance and this book was dark. I love the style in which Pepper Winters writes it flows so perfectly in my opinion. The narrators gave life to this story. Sullivan is a dark hero that you can't help but be drawn to and I love that Eleanor has a fighting spirit. I can't wait to book 2. 🎧 AudiobookObsession

Gotta love a dark story!

A girl sold... Eleonor has come to the dark side unwillingly. The story has suspense, a mouthy heroine and sexy men. I enjoyed listening to it and came to a cliffhanger, my heart stopped. Gotta listen to the next one. The narrators were awesome in bringing the gritty to life.

Gritty Pepper

If you’re looking for dark then look no further than Pepper Winters. Wow this is intense and makes you feel so many emotions. Elle/Jinx is a fighter and is trying to rebel yet there is an intense connection to her capture Sullivan/Sully. Reading/listening to this, reminds me to read Tess’s story by Pepper because it starts mentioning her. This is a scary concept but if it happens at least Eleanor holds herself strong in her resolve to get away if an$ when she can.

Sarah and Scott were able to capture the feelings and emotions of 5heir characters so very well, that the story comes to life. It’s a first listen to Scott’s voice and it blended so well in this dual narration.

Eleanor and Sullivan's chemistry is intense.. but not much else happening

Eleanor was taken and if you've read the tears of Tess series you'll understand she was taken by the same people and this book follows what happened to her. She is sold to Sullivan (Sully) and a battle of wills immediately commences. Their attraction is undeniable their connection intense and fervent which neither want to explore or display. This book, the beginning of the series was pretty uneventful apart from the attraction between the two. I will be reading the next instalment to see where Pepper Winters takes this curious to see how this unravels.

🎧Review for Audiobook Obsession 🎧

I have a few go to authors when I looking for dark, Pepper is up there on the list.
No holds barred into the story at a fast pace, that holds you in your seat. The heroine isn’t afraid to stand up to her captor and a captor that is love able on one hand and an absolute prick on the other. Win/ win. My only fault with the story is Pepper has a tendency to take you to a ledge and leaves you to hang, but it’s ok because I know whatever she has in store next is well worth the wait.
Fantastic narration by Sarah & Scott.

Just the beginning of an epic saga

This is my first Pepper Winters book and I am salivating for more of her story telling. Pepper is clearly brilliant at world building and giving you teases for more of her story. I absolutely loved this first part to a long saga, set on mysterious island and involving hot, asshole men means you literally cannot stop listening to this story. The narration from Sarah and Scott was excellent and really added to the story, I can't imagine it being as effective without their narration. I literally cannot wait for the rest of this story to be released as it ends on a huge cliffhanger!

Gritty and angsty

This is just the tip of the iceberg and I honestly can't wait for the end. Pepper Winters has a way of building up the anticipation to the point you can hardly stand it. I'll probably go back and listen again once I know how it ends with out all my angsty feelings taking away from my overall experience. The narration was great! Sarah Puckett was as good as I remembered if not better. Scott Rider is new to me and I'm going to need to search him out on Audible to make sure I don't miss his other work.
