Luna Lark used to love her name, but that was before people started saying it differently. Luna doesn't want pity, what she wants is a fresh start. Somewhere she can make headway on her next novel, mend her broken heart and - most importantly - keep herself to herself. For that Luna needs the most remote place she can find: Ondingside, a magical little island off the wild coast of Scotland. And when the town is cut off on her first night by a freak July snowstorm it feels like fate.

If you're tired of being at war with your body, then this book is for you. We've been convinced that happiness is something that only comes once we hit that goal weight, get those washboard abs, shrink ourselves down and change every part of ourselves. We believe that our bodies are the problem, but this is not true. It’s how we’ve been taught to see our bodies that’s the problem.... It's time for us all to stop believing the lies we've been fed about what it means to be beautiful and take our power back.

Nadia gets the 7.30 train every morning without fail. Well, except if she oversleeps or wakes up at her friend Emma’s after too much wine. Daniel really does get the 7.30 train every morning, which is easy because he hasn’t been able to sleep properly since his dad died. One morning, Nadia’s eye catches sight of a post in the daily paper: To the cute girl with the coffee stains on her dress. I’m the guy who’s always standing near the doors.... Drink sometime? Your soul is too heavy to pass through this door;
leave the weight of the world in the world from before.
Evie Snow is 82 when she quietly passes away in her sleep, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. It's the way most people wish to leave the world but when Evie reaches the door of her own private heaven, she finds that she's become her 27-year-old self, and the door won't open.
Evie's soul must be light enough to pass through, so she needs to get rid of whatever is making her soul heavy. For Evie, this means unburdening herself of the three secrets that have weighed her down for over 50 years. She must find a way to reveal them before it's too late.
As Evie begins the journey of a lifetime, she learns more about life and love than she ever thought possible, and somehow, some way, she may also find her way back to the only man she ever truly loved....

Sweet love story
This was a sweet story and I can definitely say I got caught up in Evie and Vincent's love for each other.
I took off a star as I found the start of the story a bit too....I'm not sure, I can't quite find the right word for it. Evie accepts the fact that she's died a little too easily I think.
But a lovely story overall.

Needed More Work
For liking the premise as much as I did, I can't recommend this book to anyone. I've watched Carrie's vlogs in the past and enjoyed them, but i can't say the same for her book. I think an editor needed to offer more advice and cut some parts - especially the more over-the-top emotional scenes.
Most of the characters react in a very non-logical way. There's an attitude of "I'll get what I want, or I'll be miserable." There's no middle ground. The main character wants to be a professional artist, but works at a newspaper with misogynists who sexually harass her. Oh, also, this doesn't take place in a specific story line. That was confusing. It makes the heroine out to be completely incompetent or powerless.
She makes some decisions I don't agree with - for a 27-year-old. Most of the time she behaves like a child who doesn't know about paying for what you want.
So, no, I didn't care too much about this book. I gave it a 2 because I felt bad giving lower for Carrie. Hopefully the next will be better.

Absolutely wonderful! The writing style weaves more magic into this already magical story!!! Carrie has been one of my favorite youtubers for several years and I was kicking myself for not buying her books as they are being published on a yearly basis now. Always enjoy her voice so I knew I had to listen to it (much easier as well since I live in the US and her books aren't sold in stores here) can't wait until she does All They She Can See in audible!

Bit daft but a sweet story
Well narrated by the author herself this story was probably aimed at a younger audience than myself (52) it was rather like reading an English essay written by a school age girl. The story was cute imaginative and VERY cheesy with a predictable ending. I would recommend this to young teens. I laughed/cringed at the characters names too.

Adorable to a fault
This is a bit of a marmite book. It's very, very sweet with twee names and an abundance of cheesy moments that some people will hate but many will love.
For me, overall, I liked it. The performance was fantastic and I definitely think this is one of those books that works better on audio than in text (I tried both).
I had a few issues with the book:
The timelessness Carrie was going for by not anchoring the story to any particular time period didn't work because the main conflict the story hinges on works in a historical setting where women had less rights and being LGBTQ+ was treated very differently...but without that historical setting, it vastly changes the story making Evie seem a bit spineless and putting too much value on the comforts of wealth.
I also wasn't fond of how the storyline of the gay character was done...it used his sexuality as a plot device for the straight characters story and we're supposed to think of her actions as noble like she's this great straight saviour and it just didn't work and really irritated me. Thankfully, the other LGBTQ characters were written well.
I loved the characters and enjoyed the magical realism for the most part.
Overall, I'd rate it 3.5 stars, but if I'm rating the audible narration I'd round it up to 4 because the performance was so good.

Magical
I have this story in hardback, paperback, kindle edition, and now audio book. It is such a wonderful story, I fell in love with the characters from the very first page, and I was captivated by a moving and magical story. Hearing it read by Carrie was fantastic, the story is hers so she made audio experience as perfect as the work itself.
