This sizzling, grumpy/sunshine forced proximity romance is perfect for fans of Icebreaker by Hannah Grace and Face Off by Chelsea Curto!
They can't keep skating around their feelings...
When disgraced Hollywood star Luca Vasvault is partnered with drama-averse professional skater Matilda Stevens on Stars on Ice, the pair get off to a less-than-smooth start. Matilda’s dazzling smile and generous spirit immediately set Luca on edge (surely no one can be that nice?) while Luca’s standoffish and brooding behaviour is making Matilda’s job unnecessarily difficult.
Despite their tension behind the scenes, though, there’s no denying their chemistry on the ice. And since Matilda and Luca both need to win for their own reasons, they strike a deal: they’ll work together, playing up their “showmance”, to win the public’s love and better their chances of winning the competition.
After all, they’re both performers for a living. How hard can it be to pretend their feelings are real?

Critic Reviews
I’ll preface this by saying romance isn’t typically my genre. After devouring so many thrillers (and writing four of my own), I’ve recently felt a pull towards something different and On Thin Ice was exactly what I didn’t know I needed.
I went into this one fairly blind, knowing only the basics: grumpy x sunshine, forced proximity, and a romance between Matilda, a professional ice skater, and Luca, a notoriously brooding Hollywood bad boy.
I absolutely loved it.
This book is addictive, dazzling, and so much fun to read. The chemistry between the characters is electric from the start, and the tension builds beautifully. And the spice? Wow. I’ll admit, I’d been waiting patiently for it to arrive but when it came… it CAME (pun very much intended). Hot, heavy, and completely worth the wait.
What surprised me most is how much this book reignited my love for romance as a genre. It reminded me exactly why readers fall head over heels for stories like this.
I’d seen a few reviews criticising the MMC for being too grumpy or harsh towards the female lead—but personally, I adored Luca. To me, he felt layered and wounded, a character carrying his own weight of past hurt. Beneath that gruff exterior was someone deeply protective, emotionally intuitive, and more than willing to please Matilda. Good boy.
The story delivers everything you want from a romance: tension, heat, slow-burn longing, emotional depth, and just the right amount of family drama woven throughout. And Luca’s mum? I loved her. She’s exactly the kind of character you wish you could step into the pages and meet... the ultimate dream mum.
Tense, hot, emotional, and utterly addictive—On Thin Ice has well and truly converted me.
