Arden and Pate had been a while in the making. It seemed like they were always missing each other...until the one week they didn't. It was magic, and Arden thought he'd found the one. Considering his family's history of falling hard and fast, he hadn't even questioned that Pate would be his happily ever after. And then, he showed up at Pate's house, only to be greeted by the alpha's ex. Arden wasn't usually one to shy away from confrontation, but in this, he knew he didn't have the strength to fight.

Nearly a month later, and his alpha shows up in Salida looking...rough, and Arden does the only thing a rational human being can do in a situation like that. Now, Pate won't leave him, proclaiming himself Arden's nurse, and not a soul in his family seems to think this is a problem. Arden has to stay strong, right? He can't let this man who has already broken his heart once back in.
