Publisher's Summary

“I am afraid of being the disruptive woman. And of not being disruptive enough. I am afraid. But I am doing it anyway.”

In this vivid and powerful collection of essays, Emilie Pine boldly confronts the past to better understand herself, her relationships and her role in society. She speaks to the business of living as a woman in the 21st century - its extraordinary pain and its extraordinary joy. Tackling subjects like addiction, fertility, feminism and sexual violence, and where these subjects intersect with legislation, these beautifully written essays are at one fascinating and funny, intimate and searingly honest.

Devastatingly poignant and profoundly wise - and joyful against the odds - Notes to Self offers a portrait not just of its author but of a whole generation.

Just another white woman...

I feel a bit means because I've listened to SO MANY books like this recently and I've not reviewed the other but I'm just exhausted with hearing the same things over.

Really enjoyable and well read essays

A lot of it resonated with me and I think all women will feel the same. There's a little bit of all of us in these lines. Very well read too. Thank you.

Wonderful essential moving essays

Emilie Pine tells HER story and reflected in it is so many women’s stories and experiences. I feel moved, empowered, emboldened and stronger for listening, I’m keeping this for my daughter; passing to my sister and recommending to friends

A must-read for all 30 something women

Life-affirming words spoken with raw honesty which left me with a racing chest and a desperate urge to announce to everyone I know that they need to consume this book. Emilie's words were given life by her lilting voice which exuded emotion to just the right degree that she maintained a professional exterior without seeming too cute

Amazing

The best book I’ve read/listened to. Ever. Although I could not relate to all her experiences, it’s like Emilie Pine is in my head. Beautifully written, raw and totally real. Loved it.

Pretty good

Pretty good, enjoyed it, loved the soft Irish accent and agreed with most of it. Found it a bit flat at times.

So good

Her story is not my story and somehow I related to everything. Such lovely way to write and pass emotions.
