About this listen

An instant USA Today bestseller!

'I'll never look at a cello quite the same way…' Jodi Picoult #1 New York Times bestseller

'Sexual tension so palpable, it'll snag you by the chin and call you a good girl' Ashley Posten, The Dead Romantics

Gwen Jackson is a musical prodigy – but she fought hard for everything she now has.

Xander Thorne comes from musical royalty. He’s a genius – but it all fell in his lap.

Already tensely opposed, when Gwen takes the spot of First Chair in the New York Pops Orchestra – a position Xander has coveted for years – their hostility goes up a notch… and their chemistry on stage goes off the scale.

Forced to find a grudging respect for one another’s music, suddenly they are box office dynamite. And as the respect turns to admiration and then heated attraction, they must decide – will a note of discord ruin their perfect harmony or can this fragile romance reach its breathtaking climax?

Love this author, love this book. I almost wish there was an accompanying album! Love a grumpy male lead character. Look forward to more of Julie’s books.

The story was beautifully written - the characters had great depth, the tension was perfectly balanced, and the chemistry was magical. The female narrator was excellent and matched the character of Gwen brilliantly. The male narrator was less suited to Alex, but this didn’t detract from the story too much as there were less of those chapters. Even as someone with low music literacy, I was still able to follow and appreciate the music story and metaphor throughout the book. Definitely worth a listen.

Absolutely beautiful story

As a professional cellist I should know better than to read music romance but I hoped it might've at least been proofread by someone who knows something about the music industry.
Yeah this is just not how it works....

Oh so much inaccuracy

I'm sure this is a great story and I can't wait to read the physical book because listening to the audio version is disappointing. When I bought the book my understanding was there was a male and female narrator for each character. Instead Peachwood narrates most chapters and Clarke does one every so often. It feels that these artists are underutilised and thus makes the book lag. Overall disappointed.
