The instant New York Times best seller

A Reese's Book Club Pick

A producer at the Belfast bureau of the BBC, Tessa is at work one day when the news of another IRA raid comes on the air. As the anchor requests the public's help in locating those responsible for this latest attack - a robbery at a gas station - Tessa's sister appears on the screen pulling a black mask over her face.

The police believe Marian has joined the IRA, but Tessa knows this is impossible. But when the truth of what has happened to her sister reveals itself, Tessa will be forced to choose: between her ideals and her family.

For a best seller I found the story very slow moving and quite boring a lot of the time. The exciting part lasts for about 5 minutes and the rest is build up but not very suspenseful.

I did enjoy learning about the history of Northern Ireland.

The narrator was a bit monotonous but mostly pretty good.

Slow moving and ultimately anticlimactic

This was a great story based on the troubles in Northern Ireland. It is something that I did not have too much exposure to so was a great story to appreciate how difficult it would have been to live in Northern Ireland during those times. I loved the characters - very strong bond between Mum, her two daughters and grandson.

This was a great story based on The Troubles

The story really has nothing - I was hoping the boring girl would do something … she doesn’t.

I really thought this would be good but not only has the story got nothing but the dull tones of the orator is depressing.

It’s only good point is this book will put you to sleep.

Terrible. 2 stars given only for the fact I did fall asleep a few times listening to it …

Awful on most counts
