About this listen

No Simple Death is a murder mystery with a touch of romance, set in the Dublin suburbs. It will appeal to fans of authors such as Peter James, LJ Ross and Ruth Rendall.

When Detective Mike West is called to investigate a murder in a Dublin graveyard, suspicion immediately falls on a local woman, Edel Johnson, whose husband disappeared some months before. But then she disappears. Evidence leads West to a small village in Cornwall, but when he arrives, he finds Edel has got there before him. Her explanation seems to make sense, but as West begins to think his suspicions of her are unfounded, she disappears again.

Is she guilty? West, fighting an unsuitable attraction, doesn't want to believe it. But the case against her is growing. Back in Dublin, his team uncover evidence of blackmail and illegal drugs involving Edel’s husband. When another man is murdered, she, once again, comes under suspicion.

Good storyline

Although I stuck this book out to the end, I found it very boring, with the narration being so monotone and lack luster. The story wasnt bad but the end was terrible. Sorry, didn't like.

Boring

Enjoyed the story but struggled to keep listening at times as narrator's style a low monotone not enough variation.

Good tale Narration a bit dour

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

A good murder mystery without too much stomach churning forensic detail or coarse swearing, but enough twists in the plot to engage interest until the final words. Narrated empathetically.

Loved this.

Mystery

The portrayal of 30 something adults having the emotions of 13 year old school kids, puts this novel firmly in the "female authors" category. A policeman who walks away from a suspect to take a phone call, a 30 something woman totally incapable of expressing herself in adult language etc etc. I could not finish this one. Don't bother.

Naïve and child-like writing. Don't bother.
