Publisher's Summary

These cases might prove to be West’s toughest yet....

Detective Garda Sergeant Mike West could do with a break. He’s had his fill of complicated cases and wants nothing more than to settle down with his fiancée. But life has a habit of getting in the way.... Two new cases come in: a hit and run where the family of the victim act suspiciously and a missing woman who is found dead from natural causes until the post-mortem suggests foul play. With an investigation into both cases going nowhere, the last thing West or his team need are further complications – they certainly don’t need human body parts turning up, but that’s what they get. Everybody avoids using the words...serial killer. With no motives, no clues and contradictory evidence, is West destined to fail this time?

No Easy Answer is a murder mystery with a touch of romance, set in the Dublin suburbs.

very very good

I think she is a very good storyteller. She creates really good characters and has really interesting twists and turns. I had no idea what was coming

Engaging story

The plot was intriguing and although I guessed the outcome, the story held my interest until the end. The narrative was well executed I could listen to the beautiful lilting Irish accent of the narrator all day long.

A great Mystery

The story was great. The cases ended up in a way that you’d never imagine which means it’s not predictable. I really enjoyed it

6 books and too many countless hours

Where to start.. I liked the main couple and their romantic story line for the first 3 instalments, then their constant secrets from each other became quite annoying, especially the female lead, it felt like she was incapable of telling the truth of any kind, her feelings, her worries, even facts she found out about, she found a way of deciding to hide the truth was best. I realised that it added elements to the plot line but it just became absurd in the end, At times realising that a crime had been committed and with all the facts but deciding it was best to hide it from her partner who was a detective, even when crimes had been committed against her. I also noticed that in the first 4 books that there was a lot of very descriptive dialogue about how handsome the main male character was, at book 4 the writer was constantly painting a picture of even the most trivial details of his handsomeness but all of a sudden by book 5 those nuances were replaced with details of his poor diet. The amount of alcohol he consumed would actually have made him an alcoholic! An alcoholic who ate a lot of biscuits and pastries daily and then meal after meal the writer detailed how often he over ate at dinner giving the reader a description of an over weight alcoholic Policeman who would most definitely have an unattractive beer belly and ever increasing waistline which is a far cry from the handsome rugged man who preferred one nighters rather than a relationship.

If i am brutally honest, it was hard to grt through all 6 novels, some chapters were unbelievably boring snd it took a lot of resilience to keep going.

This last instalment is by far the best one of all and could have been been the only book. - 6 is definitely one to read.

Loved The Whole Series

I'm going to miss all the characters from these thoroughly entertaining books.

Twists and turns everywhere that I couldn't predict.

The descriptions of their meals, food and drink I would normally find annoying, somehow worked.

If you're reading this and haven't read the previous books in this series, go to book 1 and enjoy (no credits needed).

It's not heavy reading, it's delightful and sometimes humorous.

Not sure why she's anti-woman ... weird.

This was an ok series, and I liked it, but the author's need to have a completely male centric story line was odd, Each story had the woman as the villain, such as the female domestic violence abuser, which happens, that isn't my point. There were no positive female parts in the books, to the point in this book had to have an extra detective join and the only reason he took on a woman was to up the "quota" and how nowadays you have to have a woman in the team. It makes me think less of her as a person to be honest. Another reviewer had said the same thing after reading a couple of the books and i didn't think it was as bad as they said - well, it is. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and read the six books in the series because I honestly didn't mind the key protagonist. I wouldn't read her again to be honest, as I found the deliberate exclusion of women challenging and provoking.

I got used to the narrator after the first three or four books! Took a while as he was so slow, but got used to it by the last couple. The only thing I found challenging was the "click" of saliva, which i tried to ignore but can be a bit revolting!!

Enjoyable ride

I’ve listened to them all now and enjoyed the ride. Some nice twists and surprises, but written to a formula that becomes a bit predictable after the first few books. Likeable characters and good narration. I’d listen to more by this author if they were included.
