About this listen

Scandal meets sizzle when a runaway bride’s quick getaway lands her in the arms of her almost-groom’s rival, but he has more than business on his mind when he makes her an offer she can’t refuse.

Your wedding day is meant to be the happiest day of your life. Not the day you discover your groom is a cheating jerk.

When I run, strong arms catch me. It’s just a shame they belong to my ex’s nemesis, Oliver Deubel. Rich and powerful, the man is sin in a suit. He’s also arrogant, demanding, and infuriatingly irresistible.

When my wedding disaster goes viral and deportation hangs over my head, Oliver offers me a deal: help him ruin my ex in exchange for my visa. The fine print? Move in with him.

I want to laugh in his face, until I discover how ruthless he is. So I decide to repay him by making his life a living hell, and he retaliates by…being nice to me. Which is where things become really weird as lines blur and pretend suddenly begins to feel real.

But Oliver is no Romeo, and only a fool would fall for him.

Worryingly, I think that fool might be me.

This was a fantastic book and a great listen. Evie and Oliver’s story was a push and pull, will they won’t they and had me giggling with the images of some scenes and my heart breaking in others. A great read!

Loved it!!

Superbly written, witty, steamy and dare I say classically romantic. This author never fails to entertain. Good performances by both narrators given the dialect variations of the side characters

Satisfyingly entertaining

I enjoyed the story of Eve and Oliver. I saw a TT of their first meeting and headed for the book straight away.

I liked the way these two came together so hotly and then eased back, developing their feelings for each other.

The menagerie of animals gave this book a light-hearted feel, and the side characters were funny.

I read on Kindle and read along on Audible with great audio. I really enjoyed Wll M Watt's interpretation and his voice.

Oliver is the perfect 'no Romeo'

Donna Alam is definitely one of my favourite authors. I am thinking perhaps this is a situation where i should have gone with the kindle book. The male narrators droll, overly affected narration is difficult to listen to. The female narrator is excellent. Unfortunately, the audible sample I downloaded did not feature the male narrator.

A great listen and lots of laugh out loud moments

Sometimes you just want to reach in and shake some sense into the female character ( hello, communication!) but enjoyed it nonetheless.

A fun listen!
