That’s the case when cousins Taryn, Anna Rose, and Jorja return to Shamrock, Texas, to help manage their grandmother’s flower shop, the Lucky Shamrock. The reunion isn’t exactly a beautiful arrangement—considering they’re as compatible as ranchers and coyotes. Thank heaven for a handsome go-between like Clinton, who lives above the shop.

Publisher's Summary
Food, family, and secrets combine in Cathy Lamb's emotional and deeply honest novel as one woman discovers the recipes and life lessons that have shaped her family's past, and could guide her toward a second chance at happiness.
Two years ago, Olivia Martindale left behind her Montana hometown and her husband, Jace, certain it was the best decision for both of them. Back temporarily to protect her almost-adopted daughters from their biological mother, she discovers an old, handwritten cookbook in the attic. Its pages are stained and torn, their edges scorched by flame. Some have been smeared by water or tears. The recipes are written in different hands and in different languages. In between the pages are intriguing mementos, including a feather, a pressed rose, a charm, and unfamiliar photographs.
Hoping the recipes will offer a window into her grandmother's closely guarded past, Olivia decides to make each dish, along with their favorite family cake recipes, and video record her attempts. The result, like much of her life to date, involves a parade of near-disasters and chaotic appearances by her doctor mother, her blunt grandma, her short-tempered sister, and Olivia's two hilarious daughters. The project is messy, real - and an unintended hit with her viewers.
Even more surprising is the family history Olivia is uncovering, and her own reemerging ties to Montana, and to Jace. Generations of women have shared these recipes, offering strength and nourishment to each other and their loved ones. Now it's Olivia's turn to find healing - and determine where her home and her heart truly belong.

Loved the narration
The story was a good one. Especially enjoyed the passages narrated by Kate Reading who is without a doubt the best narrator yet. Could listen to Kate all day. It felt like she would slip into her characters from the Into The Wilderness saga, Curiosity. Nathaniel and Elizabeth. This story No Place I'd Rather Be was lovely with great characters and some good humour amongst some very real tragedy. I throughly enjoyed it. I will continue to listen to any story narrated by Kate Reading.

Slow and repetitive but sweet…
I listened to this whilst decorating my bedroom so it was easy listening.
I did find it very repetitive and kept waiting for the story to get going. Once I accepted the pace I found it quite endearing, albeit predictable.
Really well read but I won’t be rushing back to the author

Recipes that bind
Olivia’s family was a delight.
They were all endearing characters.
The cookbook evoked so many memories and created many more.
Jace and Olivia were married, but Olivia was scared of getting close, reason not stated for most of the book.
This book gave me lots of laughs, despite its serious background and dramas.

Enjoyable listen
An interesting storyline. Great setting. Well formed characters, but I didn’t warm to a lot of them. Suspenseful, amusing, sweet in parts. The feminism went a little far. The message being ‘we don’t need men- they can’t handle our awesomeness & superiority’. And the autistic teen (while totally endearing, funny, & maybe my favourite character) was a little stereotyped. Even though the textbooks say they’re literal, lack emotion, & have difficulty with eye contact & physical contact, no one I’ve met on the spectrum (including my son) is so robotic. Also, there was some harsh language, & some steamy scenes I had to skip over. Despite all of that, though, I did enjoy it, but wouldn’t listen again.
