About this listen

Kala Taggart has known she was in love with Cooper McKay since she was a young girl. But her wild-child ways sometimes clashed with Coop's apple pie, all-American persona. After the worst night of Kala's life, she decided to give up on having any kind of normalcy. She focused on her future and let the idea of Cooper go.

Cooper knows he screwed up with Kala when they were young, but the adult Cooper is unwilling to let their past rob them of a future. He joins her CIA team not for the thrill of the job but to be close to the woman he's always loved. He spends night after night with her at the club, trying to fulfill her needs, to prove he doesn't need some perfect partner. All he needs is her.

When Cooper and Kala are assigned to a mission, they find themselves locked together and forced to face their problems. As the truth of that long-ago night slowly comes to the surface, Cooper has to admit that Kala might be further from him than ever. And all his plans come crashing down as the elusive terrorist they've been hunting makes a move no one is expecting, but the real threat might come from within.

Contains mature themes.

Wow

This was an amazing story. This author just gets better and better. This story had two parts and both parts had my heart aching and breaking. With all the usual characters popping in it is just one big happy family.
Great feel good book.
Narration as always with Ryan West is amazing.

Why did it have to be this man? Only one. Only him

This book has been many years in the making and I loved seeing Cooper and Kala work really hard to finally get their Happily Ever After. This book was a tough read - from the author's note, to what happened when these two were teens, to poor Kala getting so much thrown at her in the present. But I loved that despite all of this, There were moments of light and laughter as well as times when we got to see the original crew impart some much needed wisdom to the younger crew. But Kala and Cooper, these two - I fell so hard for them. Cooper is a cinnamon roll hero, with golden retriever energy and a strong love for Kala and you can't help but want a Cooper for yourself. And Kala, she really is her father's daughter - in all the best and not-so-good ways - and I loved seeing her battle her inner demons with the support of her family and friends. This book made me laugh, it made me cry (so many times!) and I cannot wait to read it again and again.

Ryan West - like always - does a brilliant job of bringing this story to life. Ryan is the voice of M&M and I relish in listening to him read these stories. I can't imagine anyone else doing this series justice.
