Publisher's Summary

Trump, as extreme as he is, is less an aberration than a logical conclusion - a pastiche of pretty much all the worst and most dangerous trends of the past half century. A one-man megabrand, with wife and children as spin-off brands...

Remember when it all seemed to be getting better? Before Trump happened? Naomi Klein, internationally acclaimed journalist, activist and best-selling author, shows us how we got to this surreal and dangerous place, how to stop it getting a lot worse, and how, if we keep our heads, we can make things better.

No Is Not Enough reveals, among other things, how Trump's election was not a peaceful transition but a corporate takeover, one using deliberate shock tactics to generate wave after wave of crises and force through radical policies that will destroy people, the environment, the economy and national security.

This audiobook is the tool kit for shock resistance, showing all of us how we can break Trump's spell and win the world we need. Don't let them get away with it.

Interesting read. Enjoyable.

A great overview of what happens with politics again and again. An important read, so we don't fall for the same old tricks all of the time. Good for people to see through what is happening today.

A fascinating listen for anyone who is losing hope

This book is a must for any person who is struggling with what we can do as a society to move forward from the social, economic, and environmental issues facing our society. Klein brilliantly addresses the interconnectedness of these issues and puts forward a powerful manifesto for meaningful change. Brit Marlin reads the book wondeefully. I can't wait to read more of Klein's works.

Try reading the published version

Overall this was a great book. The voice was extremely horribly distracting with a “Mr Grey will see you now” tone of a romance novel but the content was informative. I recommend a published version.

Powerful, inspiring and good factual examples

This version doesn’t include the LEAP manifesto (or whatever it’s called) which is mentioned as ‘at the end of this book’ which is a bit annoying.
The book is a lot shorter than other books by Naomi Klein and less bogged down with specific details.
As an Australian, it gave me insight into what is going on in the USA and the wider world - it’s not only about USA. I found it thought provoking and at times difficult to listen to because the content is so intense. We really are at a time when change is urgently needed. However, it is inspiring because she has clear ideas about how to do this.

important book

Really recommend this one - it highlights the importance of not just rejecting trump but social justice groups working on a range of important issues coming together and actually proposing the world we want and how we'll get there.

Someone finally has some answers

Ditch the politicians, Naomi for leader of the world. Her vision of society supports the vulnerable, scuppers the greedy and could finally reverse some of the damage we are doing to our planet. People need to sit up and listen, ditch the brainwashing of the media controlled by those seeking to advance their own interests and say yes to a new and bright future. Engaging and insightful, she eloquently informs us of how we got to where we are today, her path forwards is the best plan I've heard. Read and share.

A manifesto for the rest of my life...

Amazing, beautiful, an absolute must read/listen, if you have been looking for answers and direction in the apparently hopeless situation of big oil destruction/brexit/trump, then this is it, they go low we go high, always, let us leap towards a better future!

A timely culmination of all of Klein's ideas

What was one of the most memorable moments of No Is Not Enough?

Too many to mention. It was a culmination of all Klein's ideas, perfectly summing up politics as it is now. It has certainly helped me to approach the disastrous election results with less trepidation and confusion. Showing that Trump is a symptom of the problems we have in the West as opposed to a freak result of an open democracy is crucial when it comes to making transformations for the future we want.

Any additional comments?

If only she was more widely read, perhaps events like this could be avoided rather than us all retrospectively slapping her on the back for diagnosing our worsening problems

A must read!

Perfectly narrated by Brit Marling, No Is Not Enough gives hope in what feels like a hopeless social, political, economic and environmental world.

For those who are new to Naomi Klien, this also acts as a concise summary of her other important works: No Logo, Shock Doctrine and This Changes Everything.

A compelling survival guide!

An urgent timely handbook on resisting the neoliberal madness that will destroy the world as we know it! The chapter on the Standing Rock Sioux was very moving! Read and get on board, your children will thank you for it.

Inspiring and brilliant.....

This book has taken my anger and despair, and transformed it, into not only optimistic hope, but, I now see how focused, intelligent action and organisation can and will not only defeat this greedy, self obsessed fool Trump and his like, but we are so close to potentially changing the entire planet and all its systems into a healthy, loving, creation of unlimited wonder.....we are limited only by our imaginations. I recommend Jiddu Krishnamurti to read alongside Niomi. The life force, i.e., love, is always more powerful than greed, which comes from ignorance and fear. Thanks young Miss Kline, you are a beautiful soul.

Depressing, realistic, educational, hopeful.

A very necessary call to (peaceful) arms. She ties in all the issues very well, helping us understand that the world is holistic and one thing naturally affects another. For good or for bad.
