Story
There's a reason he's called Mr. Silver Tongue. Blake Silverton could sweet talk an angel into sin. Fierce small-town fire chief. Rough velvet voice. Drop dead gorgeous. Don't even get me started on the tortured single dad thing. Wintering in Heart's Edge isn't a choice when my van goes kaboom! Neither is gawking at the human bulldozer who keeps charging to my rescue. If only we could stop butting heads. But I'm a healer. What's wrong with offering a grumpasaurus a massage? I'm hardly obsessed.

I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

He's a billionaire heir. A grump supreme. Hater of people. Bigger hater of peopling with people. And my new fake boyfriend. "Emotionally unavailable" doesn’t even begin to describe Hayes Rutherford. He has more defenses than a nuclear missile silo. And he’s the ultimate catch of the century. At least, according to his bank statement. My job’s simple: Keep all interested ladies away from the walled-off heir, by pretending to be his one true love. But you know what they say about fake-dating a billionaire: It’s all fun and games, until the scandals start.

Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. In the small town of Blue Moon Bend, where everybody is a matchmaker and a tie-dye wearing hippie, Carter wants to be left alone to tend the family farm. After returning from Afghanistan with scars, his only goal is recovery. He doesn't need distractions. Definitely not one with silver-blonde hair who just keep getting in his way.

Now what's the cure for smitten?
Pinch me. I can't believe I'm working under him.

Insanely tall. Unfair perfection. Intimidating abs and X-ray glares.
Doc puts the animal back in veterinarian.

Turns out, my new boss hates three things:
1. Small town drama. Baby, we've got tons.

3. Anybody poking around his past. Like me. Oh, crud.
But how could I resist the best mystery in Heart's Edge?
I wish I had. Unraveling Gray is a dangerous game.

A bit of a drag
I am a big fan of Nicole Snow's stories but this one kind of dragged for me with all the angst filled inner thoughts of the characters. I must admit I found the premise of the story a bit of a stretch, too. If everyone in a small town like Heart's Edge knows everybody's business I found it hard to believe that only Doc knew about the goings on at the "secret" lab. In the end I think Baxter was my favourite character :-)

Too much head thinking
This was the second book in the series that I read. I found the continual self conversation about the angst of the lead hero tiresome constantly going over in his head how horrible awful he was because of his deeds in the past. And then find out that there was reasonable cause for his actions. There was minimal every day action going on Again because we were too busy going over in our head how horrible we were, it just got a little tiresome. I would’ve liked to have seen more of the couple from the first book. The men were supposed to be very good friends and know each other secrets I thought. It is nice to continue the storylines and include them more than just a line or two . The lead female was ok. There were some good funny lines here in the story mostly from our female showing that she had a good sense of humor.
I did jump through chapters because it just got repetitive it self conversation. I thought the ending was nice it would’ve been nicer to include their first child and Warren and Haley in the closing chapter story.

🌻The mixed reviews baffle me🌻
🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
I don’t get the negative comments made in some of the reviews. This book is so much better than book one. The characters are more complex, the plot is more original and intense and the writing is superb. So many romances are cookie cutter predictable, not this one. Everything came as a surprise and there were daring escapes that actually had my heart racing right along with the characters. I admit, the Heroine was a bit immature and her clumsiness annoyed me but, It was who she was. My only real complaint was the lack of medical knowledge the author lacked. Admittedly, most readers/listeners would likely not notice but, being in the medical field, every mistake stood out like a beacon, for me. I would suggest more research, by the author, or having a medical professional to consult and/or read over the medical situations and suggest corrections.
With that being said, this is definitely a worthy listen, even if you have to spend a credit in order to enjoy it.

I don’t think the author has any idea what a vet tech actually does....
Let me say first that I have been enjoying all of Nicole Snows books, even this one. I did not like it as much as the first in the series though. I agree with an earlier review that there was too much head thinking angst, the characters didn’t even really get together until ch 18, a good six hours of no touch “I’m a bad man” angst. When all is revealed I was really unclear why he thought any of the fundamental conflict was his fault, it was a stretch for him to take on a personal burden of guilt.
Also, why does nobody else in town remember anything from only 8 years ago? Extra characters are treated as props that have no memories. Very odd.
No vet tech goes to work in a tennis skirt. Can you imagine dog diarrhea running down that cute skirt, your bare leg and into those darling shoes? What is the author thinking? Vet techs wear scrubs. Vet techs cannot independently see patients, that is illegal. They cannot dispense medications, diagnose or treat animals without a vet supervising the care.
If I take an animal to the vet, I’m talking to the vet, that vet tech should keep his/her mouth shut because he/ she is not anywhere near the training of someone with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Vet tech in my state is either a 16 week certificate and test or on the job training. You don’t even need to graduate high school. They can be very knowledgeable, but the still cannot see patients on their own. The author needs to do more research on her characters.
What is it with The authors love of the “older man” and 20 something virgins? Many of her books repeat this theme, it’s kind of repetitive.
I wish there had been more action in the first half of the book, it got kind of boring with just that angsty internal monologue and pretty much nothing else going on. It got more exciting in the end though.
The readers were excellent

Wow! Great story and great performance!
The writing in this story is magnificent. The story is deep, mysterious, and has awesome characters. There are some difficult parts due to the emotional pain in them. And usually I don't like steamy scenes at all, but these are incredibly beautifully written and performed. I have read/listened to lots of books and this is one of the very best. Great story, great characters, great performance!!!

Gray's past and Embers innocence and the danger that comes back to Hearts Edge, makes this a page turner or you just can't stop listening to hear how this story unfolds and the characters come to life. The loss, heartache, and determination of Gray makes this a truly perfect HEA.

A little dissappointing
Firstly I'm a nicole snow fan and have enjoyed all her books that I've read. This one I just couldn't get into. I don't know if it was the male narrator or the doc character I just didn't warm to. sometimes he seemed to go on and on trying to be profound but I just got bored and skipped through his dialogue at times.
Embers character seemed very naive, and silly with her constant falling over nothing. I didn't find doc's attraction to her believable. I wasn't really rooting for them. I did persevere and finish although I wanted to give up a few times. I'll still be purchasing nine's story when its available on audible but this one just wasn't for me.
