Publisher's Summary
An evil force pulses deep within the heart of England, overflowing with maniacal glee....
Paranormal investigator Denny Purcell finds herself in over her head when she is brought to the scene of supernatural activity at Malpas Abbey. Unlocking the mysteries of this abandoned relic is one thing; surviving the horrors it hides is something else entirely....
This box set contains all three books of the best-selling Nightmare series by David Longhorn. Listen at your own risk.
Nightmare Abbey: Overlooking a dark hill, Malpas Abbey has been avoided by locals for centuries. Its infamous history is marred with blood and terror. Only the foolish would dare enter such a place, where devilish hauntings have left a string of dead bodies in its wake. For Denny Purcell, this is right up her alley...until she realizes she is way over her head.
Nightmare Valley: The peaceful town of Machen is hiding secrets darker than the eerie forest surrounding it. Wide-eyed children roam the woods pleading for help. Yet, behind their innocent façade lies a resurrected evil with an insatiable thirst for blood.
Nightmare Revelation: The nightmare continues to cast a deep shadow as dreadful stories of murder and mayhem make their way into London. But death comes knocking when a thick fog crawls through the night. The smell of fear lingers in the air, and no one is safe.

Great series!
I loved this series! Each book was better than the previous one and all were well written and developed. The plot of each book was well paced, exciting and had plenty of little twists that held me riveted. It's the type of series that does need concentration to read, but it is worth it! I thoroughly enjoyed each book and look forward to more from this author.
I've listened to a good few books narrated by Thom Bowers and I feel like he is going from strength to strength as a narrator. His tones, voices and inflections are great and he brings the atmosphere to life. He also gives each character their own personality and it was easy to follow who was talking.
I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

Sir, may I have some more please?
The first thing I did was check for more books in the series. Each book works off the others before but would be a good stand alone book as well. It is a horror series that delve into different genres of horror. Book one was a classic horror story with bumps in the night; book two had that as well but also delved into the fears that parents have concerning their children; the third had both of those aspects but threw in the fears of big brother watching and plotting for their own ends. I enjoyed that the heroes were able to communicate with the "monsters" which added another level to the series. I don't like spoilers so I will end my review here.
Any fan of the horror genre should give this series a chance.

Interesting premise. Left openings for additional twists for future novels
I thought the books had a unique story line. There were instances that did remind me of old Star Trek episodes where you knew that the new guy with the red shirt in the landing party was destined to meet their end in the episode, but other than that predictability, the story was actively moving forward. A great deal of foreshadowing in the third novel for future stories. After I read the first book, I did not pursue the other books for a while, but with the 3 as a set, they were more enjoyable. Overall a good story

Creepy collection.
The Nightmare Series is made up of three books: Nightmare Abbey, Nightmare Valley, and Nightmare Revelation. Going in I was expecting a ghost hunter-ish experience, but it goes beyond that. It's not ghosts we have to fear but rather extra-dimensional 'demons' that are referred to as Interlopers that are hell bent on invading our world. These are fun creepy tales loaded with an interesting cast of characters, but I thought the pacing could use a little tweaking. Shorter, punchier chapters. If you like horror stories you might just want to give this collection a try.
This set of book is narrated by Thom Bowers. I'm familiar with his work as he narrated all 9 of the Berkley Street books (excellent series BTW) and once again I thought he did a very good, though I have to be honest and say I wasn't crazy about all his voices this time around (especially Denny) Sorry Thom but the voice you gave her just got on my nerves, lol.

Evil Interlopers
I listened to the 1st 2 books when they were released but really enjoyed listening to complete 3 books at once. Book 1 Investigators from the America’s Weirdest Places are hired to check out the paranormal activity at Malpas Abbey. I enjoyed the characters of Ted Gould, Bree, Denny and Forester, felt sorry for Bree near the end. Book 2 was the continuation of the Malpas Abbey in the town of Machen and the woods with the interlopers. I enjoyed the characters of Ted Gould, Denny, and Dr Wakefield. There are a few new characters as well in this book Lucy is actually an interloper as well as Isobel. Loved it when they went thru the gate and met with a soul eater. Book 3 the interlopers are being bolder and increased in numbers more like doppelgangers and Denny meets the Mother. Enjoyed the characters of Denny and Frankie. The epilogue suggests more books to be added to series (I hope) and with ghosts. I was given this free review copy audiobook by Scare Street and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU

Nightmare series
I really liked this story about other dimensions. I gave this story five stars because it grabbed my attention and kept it through out the whole book or should I say books? This writer tells a smooth flowing story. I liked how he had another point of view on "what goes bump in the night" scenario. I will read more from this author.

Horrible
I'm not sure if the voice actors were deliberately trying to make all the characters as annoying and insipid as possible or if it was honestly impossible to retrieve the characters from the limp dialogue, predictable plot, and superficial development.

Creepy and interesting
I loved how creepy the first book was. I was on tenterhooks the whole time. The second, not as much, but it was still a great story. Instead of the story being centered in a single house, it branched out to a whole town and forest. I really enjoyed the story, but it didn't have the same creepy factor the first one had. It felt like I was used to the creatures by that point. Nothing new in that corner. However, the situation and story were really good and had me listening as often as I could. The last book was good, but not in the same way as the first or even the second. It was more "political." The creatures had ceased to really be terrifying monsters and were more like invaders of a sort. It had a more spy kind of infiltration feel to it. Like pod people except not...I can't explain it. Despite the change, or maybe because of it, the story was fresh and interesting.
All three books were interesting and captivating in their own way, and I'd definitely recommend them.

Great story!!
I had a lot of fun with this one. I figure there are 3 types of books. There are the books that you don’t enjoy at all, the books that are good, and then there are the books you can’t stop reading and feel sad when you are done. This is that book. I couldn’t wait to listen each day. I would get home from work and just sit in my car and listen.
Great characters that will have you cheering for them as they encounter this nightmare.

Invaded
Book 1 Nightmare Abbey: Malpas Abbey has been long abandoned because of its infamous history of murder and terror which began in the 18th century. The place is deemed haunted and anyone entered rarely exits alive. Enter a TV crew and men from the UK Ramola Institute and not everyone gets out alive.
Book 2 Nightmare Valley: Set in the small town of Machen. An evil entities thirsty for blood appears as dead or missing loved ones. And children roam the woods and come back changed
Book 3 Nightmare Revelation: This book is now set in London where thick fog merges with the night bringing death in it’s wake. No one is safe. Denny and her friend Frankie must enter the other dimension to save our world from the Interlopers.
In all 3 books Ted Gould from the Ramola Foundation and Denny Purcell who he recruited from the 1st book, battle the forces of another universe. I enjoyed all 3 books, but the narrator spoiled the experience for me, .He is good on accents and different voices, but he seems to emphasize words in almost every sentence which is not needed and he reads so slow (except when he is speaking for a character) and I felt like winding him up. This slow voice gets very monotonous after a while.

Hard copy might work but not the audio version...
Just awful.
The narration style means that all of the characters come across as 1 dimensional and rather unpleasant with it. Add to that the British accents... I /think/ there are attempts at "posh English", Yorkshire and Scottish. Mostly it turns into an attempt at cartoon level cockney.
Please. If there are British accents and an otherwise good reader can't do them, just do it all in USA American!

Could Have Been Better
When this started out, I really thought it was going to make a good story, and for a while, it did. But once it got past the paranormal (as in haunting), I wasn't as thrilled. I did listen to it all the way through and I still felt it was a good story, but I would have liked it better if it hadn't gone into that other realm and all that business with "Interlopers". Again, love Thom Bowers doing the narration, he's got such a calming voice and does a variety of different voices, makes listening so easy. Good story if you like "other-worldly" stories.
