Publisher's Summary

For fans of Stephen King, Mark Edwards and The Haunting of Hill House comes a dark tale of a mysterious house haunted by tragedy.

The Nightingale House is a new beginning for widower Daniel Price and his young daughter, Caitlyn. After months of grief, this will be the place where they start their life as a family of two.

But something is wrong - Daniel can’t settle. There’s an odd, cold feeling in the master bedroom, and a mysterious dripping noise that seems to move from room to room. Whispers of I can’t sleep echo through the corridors, long into the night.

And then Daniel uncovers the chilling story of the family who lived in the house years before, of betrayal, tragedy and murder. Could the Nightingale House be not the home Daniel dreamed of for his daughter - but a place that will bring their worst nightmares to life?

Terrible narration

I was expecting a lot more from this book but by the second episode I knew I’ll struggle. The narrator was announcing the whole story thus making it into a light entertainment rather than a scary story...

Good story - worthwhile listen - but background noise galore!

The story was good - kept me interested from beginning to end - very little boring filler which is much appreciated. There was a storyline with the teacher that felt random, unnecessary, and unresolved but that was a tiny nit in the overall story. Be warned if you get easily distracted by background noise. The narrator read each character well but you could hear kids screaming and yelling in the background through most of the book. It was quite distracting initially but I figured it was probably due to COVID forcing him to narrate while his kids were in the next room — I actually felt bad for him. Judging by this recording, they scream ALL DAY LONG. That said, after awhile they blended into the background and I didn’t notice them as much — the quality of the story and the way he narrated it made the kids easier to overlook.
