Publisher's Summary
A special centennial project, 100 Amazing Objects is spread throughout the Museum's galleries. It is composed of three tours - coded red, green and blue - which focus on a wide-ranging group of amazing objects that will take you from Science to Asia, starting on the third floor of the Museum's Main building. The tours move through all of the galleries, including Natural Science, Native American, Arts of Africa, Classical, American Art, Decorative Arts, Arts of Asia, ending on the third floor of the North Wing.
The tours will be offered both as self-guided gallery adventures and as guided tours with our docents. The self-guided tours will feature "treasure maps" to help visitors find their way around the Museum's 80 galleries.
Red Tour - Amazing looking
Explores works that dazzle the eye and excite the imagination. The art and science objects were selected for their maximum "wow" factor. Some are big, some are not so big, but all of them are eye-filling feasts of form, pattern, color, line and texture.
This tour is particularly recommended for family groups with children.
This special centennial project was produced by a team of curators and educators led by Senior Curator Ulysses Dietz.
