About this listen

Some people go looking for love. Others crash right into it.

‘Funny and smart – a breath of fresh air!’ Claire Frost

Zara Khoury believes in love – so much so that she flies from Dubai to Liverpool to be with a man she barely knows. It’s a risk, but she’s certain that uprooting her life for Nick is the new start she needs.

Jim Glover is stuck. Since his Dad died, he’s put his dreams aside and stayed at home in Liverpool to care for his mum. Trapped in a dead-end job, he’s going nowhere – that is, until he gets a phone call that just might change his life..

Zara and Jim aren’t supposed to meet. But then fate steps in, and when their worlds – and cars! – collide, the real journey begins…

A gorgeous tale about taking risks and living life to the full – perfect for fans of Beth O’Leary and Josie Silver. If you love Never Saw You Coming, don’t miss Hayley Doyle’s new book Love, Almost.

Critic Reviews

"This very modern love story is quirky, fun and full of surprises. I loved getting to know Jim and Zara on their road trip and watching as their love/hate relationship developed against the background of a very real and vibrant Liverpool. Hayley's writing is funny and smart – a real breath of fresh air!" (Claire Frost, author of Living My Best Life)

"A tale that will leave you smiling!" (Bella magazine)

"Funny, fresh, and perfect for when you need a feel-good treat." (Nicola Gill, author of The Neighbours)

I loved this book of serendipity. The writer draws you in from the beginning. Great narrators.

Difficult to put down

Enjoyed it, wouldn't rave about it hut it kept me interested enough to finish it. I would have liked more story as it seemed to end abruptly.

Wanted more, especially for the ending

I loved this read, great scouse accent, beautiful and funny story, life is too short

A great read

Was a bit slow and felt that there were a lot of storyline’s which were underdeveloped. Definitely has the potential but felt a bit frustrated with the characters and story overall especially once finished.
Nice easy listening though, I’m painting the house at the moment and it was a good companion for that. Also made me feel like I was back in Liverpool so that was fun.

Little bit slow

I really liked the performances, characters, descriptions, the whole lot! But the story line was really frustrating. A whole book about 3 days in time essentially.
But that’s just me!

Frustrating story line

real characters with flaws and all. a feel good read that I couldn't stop listening to.

loved it

Everything that happened could be predicted chapters ahead. The book could have done with a ruthless editor cutting swathes through the endless foreshadowing. The basic premise was fine for the genre, the execution a bit tedious.

Too drawn out

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

The story loses its way exploring 'feelings' and minute details "in the moment" at the expense of developing the plot. In the end becoming tedious. The female protagonist is unlikable and the male lead is a limp biscuit. This is the first Audible I found too painful to finish, even at twice the speed. Takes too long to develop the story, goodness knows where it goes, I couldn't be bothered finding out.

Boring and implausible
