About this listen

From master storyteller Stephen King comes a thrilling new novel with intertwining storylines - one about a killer on a diabolical revenge mission, and another about a vigilante targeting a feminist celebrity speaker - featuring the beloved Holly Gibney and a dynamic new cast of characters.

When the Buckeye City Police Department receives a disturbing letter from a person threatening to 'kill thirteen innocents and one guilty' in 'an act of atonement for the needless death of an innocent man', Detective Izzy Jaynes has no idea what to think. Are fourteen citizens about to be slaughtered in an unhinged act of retribution? As the investigation unfolds, Izzy realises that the letter writer is deadly serious, and she turns to her friend Holly Gibney for help.

Meanwhile, controversial and outspoken women's rights activist Kate McKay is embarking on a multi-state lecture tour, drawing packed venues of both fans and detractors. Someone who vehemently opposes Kate's message of female empowerment is targeting her and disrupting her events. At first, no one is hurt, but the stalker is growing bolder, and Holly is hired to be Kate's bodyguard - a challenging task with a headstrong employer and a determined adversary driven by wrath and unhinged righteousness.

Featuring a riveting cast of characters both old and new, including world-famous gospel singer Sista Bessie and an unforgettable villain addicted to murder, these twinned narratives converge in a chilling and spectacular conclusion - a feat of storytelling only Stephen King could pull off.

Thrilling, wildly fun and outrageously engrossing, Never Flinch is one of King's richest and most propulsive novels. ©2025 Stephen King (P)2025 Hodder & Stoughton Limited

Excellent, solid story.

I haven't been a huge Holly fan but this book is excellent. The pacing, character development and overall story is outstanding.

feels like coming home

Very good narration. Jesse Mueller does a fantastic job narrating a story that feels new and comfortably familiar.

Another brilliant novel

As usual, Stephen King has written a brilliant novel with one of my all time favourite characters, Holly.. and not forgetting Jerome!

Loved the Holly character from the beginning.

I never dislike any of Mr King’s stories. Always a great listen. Looking forward to more

Excellent narration and story!

Another great story in the Holly Gibney series, and while I usually prefer series to have the same narrator throughout, this change was a great choice. Hard to 'put down' once everything kicked off, and I ended up finishing this one by the next day.

The narrator was amazing. What a beautiful voice

The story wasn’t one of Kings best but I love knowing what Holly and the crew are up to. The narration was surprising with the narrator breaking into song at times - I hated it the first time but it grew on me and her voice is amazing. It really suited the story. Well worth the listen xx

Loved it

Holly is fast becoming one of my favorite Stephen King characters. Brilliant narration from Jesse really brought the characters to life and the story had me hooked from the beginning. Loved it.

The Worst Narrator ever!!!!

Stephen King is my favourite author and has been for many years, so having pre-ordered this book, I was so excited when it finally was released on Audible.

That was until I heard the narration begin. This narrator absolutely ruins the story. Not only can she not do any character voices, but the voices she attempts are laughable and there is no consistency. For the first half of the book, she speaks so fast and mumbles that it’s hard to even understand what she’s saying.

To say I am disappointed is an understatement. If this book had not been written by one of the great masters himself, I would not have pushed through it as it was painful at best!

Having pushed through, I wish I had just requested a refund and went and bought the book as she completely butchered it.

As a long-term subscriber, I am used to hearing quality narrators (eg. Julia Whelen to name just one) and I am beyond gobsmacked at just how bad this narrator was and that the book was released with such a below par audio. I normally preview before I buy but as it was a pre-order, that option was not available to me. I have listened to many Stephen King through Audible and the narrators have been great.

Do yourselves a favor!!! Go buy the book. Seriously the most painful thing I have ever had to listen to.

Story was fine! Narration was ridiculous.

Still Got It

Great thriller, good addition to the Holly Gibney series, The narrator was great, just theatrical enough without over doing it.

Great narration

While not the best of the Holly Gibney stories, she is my favourite of King’s characters, so always happy to get more. Jessie Mueller’s narration is brilliant - one of the best I’ve listened to - she makes it easy to become immersed in the story and brings each of the characters to life.
