A rock n roll story of epic proportions

this book is quite simply epic. not only do you get a great insight into NOFX the band, but you get a history lesson on the LA punk scene, the grittiness of a dangerous time on the am West Coast that have birth to some great music.

you also get a pretty eye opening look into drug use, it's devestation and consequences.

This book is naratted by the band themselves which is a lovely added touch.

you don't need to be a nofx fan, or even a punk fan to enjoy this book - if you have a general interest in music, or just love music biographies, you'll love it

recommend.

So rad

I have never been a huge nofx fan, but this book is great for anyone who loves the gritty, messed up, and drug and booze fuelled hijinks. It even made me cry a couple times. Amazing

Okay if you like NOFX

It is not very funny, a bit narcissistic, and pretty much plays out like you would expect from a punk rock band that has kept real for so many years. They certainly have bragging rights, but this book goes a bit overboard with them justifying some of the terrible things they have done. Overall it is a good insight to anyone that wonders what they missed out on by never crossing the line from being a poser to going all the way and being successful in the punk rock lifestyle.

Deep, sad, funny, inspirational, scary, educational, insightful, disgusting, and one of the most addictive books I've listened to yet. If you are a fan of NOFX it is deeply satisfying to hear where they came from and what they've been through. Extremely well written and well spoken. Thanks for sharing guys! Love you! Glad you are all still alive and doing well.

Loved these stories

Since the band (and a couple of friends) read the their own book, it was really engaging when they would tell the stories of the small happenings a events, that lead to NOFX as we know them. Being a fan of the band, this was a treat for me. But, if anything, the tales are fun, scary and put things into perspective with early punk culture. The guys putting out this book had to take courage and some long lost emotional stress. Several parts of this book I feel will stick with me for some time. Just because a few topics hit pretty close to home. A great book for anyone. ...maybe anyone.

Liked it up to family death and butt plugs.

Lost me at butt plugs. Like I can hang for a bit, but it felt like the last 10% of the book was less about NOFX, and more about Mike's sexual lifestyle. Great book up until that point.

Absolutely loved it!! It's like Eric Melvin touched my souls, Smelly Almost brought me to tears, El Jefe made think about my own Mexican family growing up and fat Mike mad me laugh and think about my own vices. Jello and Tommy were great and sincere in there readings. I Fucking love this book and it makes me appreciate NOFX even more. Thank you for both guys, you all did great reading your parts!!

The Epitome of Audiobooks

This is the perfect audiobook for me as I usually listen while driving:

Read by the authors
Short stories to allow for pausing at appropriate breaks
Interesting and hilarious

I'd love to find other books similar to this one.

Incredible

Having been a huge fan of NOFX for many years, I was extremely excited to hear they were releasing an autobiographical style book.
It does not disappoint. it's so BRUTALLY honest and real, an unflinching account to all the ups and downs of this group of misfits. Listened to it in its entirety in 2 days and I am going for round 2!
Will shock you, move you and make you laugh. Highly recommended wether you're a fan or not!

From the horses' mouths

This book is full of words, arranged into sentences which themselves are arranged in such a way as to convey events and ideas related to the subject matter. That can't just be a coincidence.

great stuff

this book is great for band stories and gives a vivid description of the chaos and violence of the early 80s LA point scene, also all the band members are exceptionally honest about their lives and the awful stuff they've done and had done to them, lots of dark secrets revealed. so a fascinating listen. one point I might pull them up on is the lack of actual music in the book, there's very little about the song writing process or studio techniques or stories, songs and full albums just seem to materialise out of thin air, a chapter on those would have really rounded or what is already a terrific book

NOFX’s history literally warts and all

NOFX delivers a book that goes so far beyond a simple history of the band. Behind a band that many would see as the jokers of the punk rock scene is a dark history of addiction, violence, extreme poverty and bleak prospects.

Through this book I have gained a huge respect for this band and the personal struggles they have gone through. This is a must not just for any punk but for any music lover. You will laugh, you will wince, you may even shed a tear but you will not regret listening.

The performances give extra gravitas to what is being said with the exception of Jello Biafra who’s delivery and how he has edgy new name each chapter caused a few eye rolls. Other than that this audiobook was excellent. Thoroughly recommend.
