I enjoyed this novel had not read a book by this author before will read another one now I may watch the movie made of this book now that I have read the book.

Lehane gets you to care about the characters right from the get go. They are all fleshed out and there are no clear bad guys or good guys. Each character has clear and justifiable motivations for their actions but each character is also flawed as all of us are. The world is set in feels real with all of its grime quickly succumbing to gentrification. It handles some of the darker sides of human nature in a very intelligent way.
