Publisher's Summary

My Name'5 Doddie is a humbling, courageous and very funny celebration of a remarkable man. The extraordinary, life-affirming autobiography of Doddie Weir is an absolute must-listen – rugby fan or not.

Rugby legend and MND campaigner Doddie Weir has always lived life to the full. On the pitch, Doddie's irresistible talent took him to the heart of every team he graced and brought him 61 caps for Scotland. He won fans all over the world with his sportsmanship, humour and boundless energy. Then, in June 2017, Doddie made the announcement that he had been diagnosed with MND. With no cure and almost no treatment of any sort available, Doddie set out to do what he could to change that, tackling the issue head on with his trademark positivity and good humour. Since then, the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation has raised and pledged millions towards research into this dreadful condition and his tireless campaigning has transcended the world of sport.

Great read !

I really enjoyed reading this book. I met Doddie and the rest of the Scottish team about 25+ years ago in Western Samoa when they were on a rugby tour. The book was very easy to listen to, especially with the strong scottish accent of the narrator. It is very sad to here that he has MND, but his positive mindset seems to be getting him through it at this point.

Wonderful story! Inspiring and heartwarming❤️

This is exactly what I needed in these covid times. A real life tale, lyrically told. Perseverance and character, coupled with humor and humanity. Doddie’s compellingly journey is delivered with heart by the inimitable Andrew Cotter.
My favorite listen this year. Highly recommend!

Every emotion going!

This book is a must listen to. I listened, I laughed, I cried. Doddie has a fantastic story to tell, it’s not all about MND but he does talk about it. The narrator is clear and I liked his voice. If I could’ve listened to this in one go I would have. This is one book I will listen to again.

Funny, interesting and very moving.

I really enjoyed this book. It was funny and extremely moving at the same time as well as being really interesting. Andrew Cotter's narration was brilliant. He brought the book to life. Well worth a listen for rugby and non rugby fans, for people affected by this horrible illness and for anyone who wants to understand more about MND.

Inspirational story

An inspirational story of a strong sportsman and how he handled a diagnosis of MND. Answer: don't let it stop you, let it inspire you and meet it head on! Equal parts stories of his rugby career and the personalities he met and how he takes on the challenges of his condition with good humour and grace.

Words of a Warrior

As a youngster with MND (39), I felt compelled to listen to what the big oaf from the Borders had to say. This is a lovely recollection of his career, life and diagnosis and I enjoyed the humour throughout. Thank you for everything that you are doing Doddie, keep your eye on turning 60!
