Story
Henry Winkler, launched into prominence by his role as “The Fonz” in the beloved Happy Days, has transcended the role that made him who he is. Brilliant, funny, and widely-regarded as the nicest man in Hollywood (though he would be the first to tell you that it’s simply not the case, he’s really just grateful to be here), Henry shares in this achingly vulnerable memoir the disheartening truth of his childhood, the difficulties of a life with severe dyslexia, the pressures of a role that takes on a life of its own, and the path forward once your wildest dream seems behind you.

This is the memoir music fans have been waiting for. Together, they were a duo, a unit, an immovable object. Their extraordinary, half-century-and-counting creative relationship has been chronicled in biopics and memoirs, but Taupin, a famously private person, has kept his own account of their adventures close to his chest, until now.

THE TWAT FILES are my stories of the times when I've been a total, utter twat. Time and time again, I've been a massive eejit. But the more I think about it, the more I understand that the moments where I've made mistakes, misunderstood stuff and messed up are key. That's where all my learning happens and where I laugh the most. Being a twat is universal and my twatishness is no different to yours. Except perhaps, that mine has been horrifyingly public on occasion.

In Oscar Wars, Michael Schulman chronicles the remarkable, sprawling history of the Academy Awards and the personal dramas—some iconic, others never-before-revealed—that have played out on the stage and off camera. Unlike other books on the subject, each chapter takes a deep dive into a particular year, conflict, or even category that tells a larger story of cultural change, from Louis B. Mayer to Moonlight. Schulman examines how the red carpet runs through contested turf, and the victors aren't always as clear as the names drawn from envelopes.

Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
The exhilarating and startlingly honest autobiography of the living legend.
The long-awaited memoir by the icon of stage, screen and music. This audiobook is read by Barbra Streisand. It features Barbra Streisand’s iconic music, interlaced with exclusive anecdotes for the My Name is Barbra audio edition.
Barbra Streisand is by any account a living legend, a woman who in a career spanning six decades has excelled in every area of entertainment. She is among the handful of EGOT winners (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) and has one of the greatest and most recognizable voices in popular music.
Streisand’s memoir reveals a voice on the page that is every bit as heartfelt, entertaining and spectacular as her best performances. There’s the chilling story, which she’s never told before, of the origins of her legendary stage fright. There’s a hilarious opening line to James Brolin, who she’s been with for 27 years. There’s a page and a half correcting the record on the Streisand Effect, a term that refers to the way efforts to minimize a story can backfire, generating exponentially more press. As Vanity Fair said: ‘if Barbra could plug away for 10 years writing this exhaustive, exhilarating account of her life— then we can do her the courtesy of reading it from start to finish.’
Critic Reviews
‘Exhilarating … leaves blood on the page … My Name Is Barbra is 992 pages of startling honesty and self-reflection, deadpan parenthetical asides (including a running bit about how much she loves going to the dentist), encyclopaedic recall of onstage outfits, and rigorous analyses of her films’ Vanity Fair
‘Glorious, exuberant, chatty and candid, a victory lap past all who ever doubted, diminished or dissed her, with lingering high fives for the many supporters . . . generous dollops of chutzpah … Nobody puts Barbra in the corner.’ New York Times
‘The book is crammed with delicious details of backstage arguments, bewildered suitors and at least one incident of falling off a London bus’ BBC ‘Streisand is no less than a living legend, one of a handful of EGOT winners (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) and now, she’s taking us all back to where it began. Streisand’s story is truly inspirational and it’s one that you’ll want to pick up again and again’ Glamour

Barbra's voice makes this listen even more special. Her added commentary and musical additions enhance the entire experience. Fascinating insights into the whole industry and culture of Broadway, film and music, as well as her personal relationships.
Barbra shows herself as a very real, incredibly creative and talented, vulnerable, formidable woman who has always been ahead of her time. She also has a great sense of fun and humour and is incredibly candid.
It is a privilege to be able to hear her truth in her own gorgeous expressive voice. I will be giving this another listen or two to allow it to all sink in.

48 hours!? A daunting task at the beginning, but it’s so fascinating and Barbra is such a natural storyteller that I couldn’t get enough. I finished it in 5 days! That’s like job hours! But this was no job. It was a total pleasure having her wonderful tone in my ear. I felt like it was just written ( here spoken, and I DO recommend the audiobook over the written page) for me. hearing Barbra talk so openly and truthly about her life..what an amazing gift to her fans
hearing Barbra tell her story in her own words is unsurpassed..the truth being told is so powerful , her honesty and show of warmth in its telling with the greatness of intergnity when sharing her feelings especially when others were mentioned and involved in her life..how she remained silent during their lifetimes so not to betray the friendship like a true and respectful friend who honored the secrecy and bond that true friendships must uphold. A fascinating insight to her career, her instrict and passion that she always gives to provide the best in all she does makes you truly appreciate her efforts as an artist and for me..a fan of 40yrs I continue to give thanks that Barbra has supported me through my life through her amazing work and her thoughts and actions contributed to her ongoing passion to influence the world as a whole has made me want to do the same in my small way..thank you Barbra and now you deserve your time and fun with your family..with love and greatful thanks x
