Story
A sensual tale of four suitors’ pursuits of a former maid - as told by a lady. Being a maid was much simpler than being the illegitimate sister of an earl. Lily Harkins has learned that lesson the hard way. Now, she has not one, but four aristocratic suitors. Her brother will expect her to choose one. Trouble is, she doesn’t want any of them. The handsome clerk she recently met, however, is another story entirely. She’ll just have to convince her brother that marrying a commoner wouldn’t be a huge mistake. Story
Nothing makes a man more lonely than his secrets. The same might be said for women. Godfrey, Viscount Thorncastle, has a secret he’d rather not tell anyone, including the woman for whom he has held a candle for more than 20 years. Elise Burroughs Batey, the widow of Lord Lancaster, has had enough of marriage, but pining for the chance at motherhood, she may just have to consider Godfrey’s proposal. If he can just get it right. The man has some preconceived notions about his true love, none of which are true. But then, she has some of the same notions about him.
Publisher's Summary
If people only see what they expect to see, then why doesn't Julia Harrington?
When her friend, Lady Samantha, spies a rather handsome groom from her bedchamber window, Lady Julia agrees the man is far too handsome to be a groom. "He could be a gentleman", she tells Sam, thinking it wouldn't be too difficult to teach the servant how to speak and dance and dress like a gentleman. Doubting Julia can accomplish such a task, Samantha dares her to do just that - and in time for the Mayfield ball - in just three weeks!
Alistair Comber, the second son of the Earl of Aimsley, was fighting Napoleon's forces on the Continent until his true identity was revealed. Having assured one of his dying soldiers he would see to a monthly income for the man's widow and children, Alistair returns to England intending to keep the promise. But when his father refuses to honor the obligation, Alistair is forced to sell his commission to help raise the funds. Angered that his son would do such a thing, the earl disowns Alistair.
In need of a position and a place to live, Alistair uses his skills as an expert horseman to gain a position as a groom at Harrington House.
When Lady Julia tells him of her plans to make him into a gentleman in time for the ball, Alistair agrees to the scheme. After all, how hard can it be when he's already a gentleman? Alistair is about to find out just how hard it can be in My Fair Groom.

although the narrator has a lovely voice with interesting cadences, i simply could not follow his reading. i am hard of hearing. i was following cadences but could not pick up the usual consonants which break sentences into words.

I really tried but the narrator drove me nuts
I had already forced myself to listen to another book narrated by Scott Richard Ehredt by pretending he sounded a bit like my grandfather when he would read aloud to my grandmother. He didn’t. I tried to stay with this book because I enjoy Linda Rae Sande’s story telling and writing style. Another twelve hours in the company of the narrator was too much for me to face.

2 for 1 Romances
I listen to audiobooks while driving to work, so I don't concentrate too hard on the story. I think this is why it took me a little while to realize there were two separate stories going on. Once I realized that, I was able to keep to the threads . I enjoyed this book , and was glad the author avoided some cliches. I got this free with a review requested, and an glad to recommend it. The narrator took a little getting used to, but did an enthusiastic job.

An entertaining story
This was as a good paced, lighthearted and entertaining story There are two stories in this book concerning two friends, Gabriel Wellingham, Earl of Trenton and Alistair Comber, the second son of an earl. Gabriel is wealthy but has a poor reputation which hinders his quest for a bride. Alistair is in need of money and is looking for a way to earn some money to fulfil a pledge to a colleague. There follows the interesting tale of how they found their happy ending. The narrator changed his voice for the different characters and although his voice was a little gruff, it worked well.

Happy to Recommend!
Hidden Identity, searching for out of wedlock children ....two fabulous romances with happy ever afters in this very readable book and audiobook. The characters in the main story, Julia and Alistair, are very endearing and I had a good few chuckles after Lady Julia's first kiss. It seems a man can also be affected by that kind of kiss and the way they dance around each other after it is hilarious. And then we have the other side of the coin in the story running alongside the main one with a man whose kisses put women off until he meets the love of his life who teaches him the right way to kiss. Lovely characters, beautifully told stories and a good narration made this a very pleasurable experience which I am happy to recommend. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and my voluntary review above is unbiased.
