Nothing can turn your world upside down faster than someone asking for your help. When I answered my door, the last thing I expected was a vampire. I probably should have asked before I invited him in. But what's done is done. He wasn't looking for his next meal, he was looking for a savior. His clan was being hunted by rogue witches out for their blood and we were all that could save them. Me, being me, jumped right in to be the hero. The rest of the clan thought I was insane for wanting to help vampires.

Publisher's Summary
When the topic of grandchildren comes up during a weekly sewing circle, the matriarchs of the founding families seek out the witch Elder to scry to see if their sons have mates. They are shocked to discover that many of their son's mates are out in the world and are human!
Fearing that their future daughter in laws will end up dead before being claimed and providing them with grandchildren to spoil, they convince their own mates that something must be done. After gathering all of the warriors together in a fake award ceremony, the witch Elder casts a spell to pull the warrior's mates to them, whether they want it or not.
Aiden McKenzie is adamant that he doesn't need a mate and that she would only get in the way. He doesn't have time to coddle a female. He likes his world run with military precision. Little does he realize, Fate is sending him his mate first! He meets his destined mate Meryn Evans and things go downhill from there. She is the embodiment of chaos. In the first 24 hours she kicks, screams, and knocks her bear shifting mate unconscious.
Eventually they discover that life before finding each other may have been good, but life afterwards is perfect, even if it involves super soaker battles and accidentally discharging hand grenades.
Unfortunately the joy of their mating is overshadowed when Aiden and Meryn find themselves embroiled in a missing persons case assigned to Aiden by the Lycaonian Council. By assisting Aiden, Meryn finds herself the focus of a demented killer.
Can Aiden and the elite warriors from the Alpha Unit keep Meryn safe? Or did Fate bring her to Lycaonia to die?

Saccharine overdosed
It such a promising beginning it's hilarious but then it become to sweet oh don't get me wrong it would be nice to have a nice whipped mate because that's how Aiden was in the end just someone grovelling to Merin. And she taking over the command? oh pls there are those alpha unit the best of the best just following order from a human give me a break I feel like gagging of the sweetness overdosed lol but the narrative is amazing a but whiney when talking as Merin but over all she really good.

Enjoyed this fictional tale but think it leaves the main characters Merryn an Aiden up in the air. They have just moved into the all male alpha barracks an this is not the end of their story. The first 1/3 was hilarious
Genuinely, Look Like A Crazy Lady (because you randomly burst out guffawing in the middle of the supermaret), humourous. However... any giggle worthy part got repeated or reused over and over, and over... and over.
Ehhh, not so funny anymore.

So worth it
Alanea is an amazing author. She brings laughter and adventure to her stories that keep you coming back for more. Meryn and Aiden are the first two characters that you meet. Meryn is a firecracker of a woman who keeps Aiden on his toes as they learn about each other. But danger seems to be around every corner stalking Meryn. Can Aiden save his beloved mate from the feral's or will he lose her just like the nightmares foretold. Follow Meryn and Aiden on there journey, laugh and cry and then laugh some more. It's so worth it.

A WICKEDLY GOOD, LOL, RIOT OF A PNR
I was so in the mood for something completely different.. and that’s exactly what I got with this hilarious, addictive ott paranormal fun fest filled with shifters, vampires, fae, magic and mayhem as one tiny single human spitfire turns a Bear shifter’s world upside down. Because you’d think a big strong handsome sexy Commander wouldn’t have any problems controlling and claiming his mate.. and yet the feisty little minx challenged and confused him like no other.
What a wonderful world Alanea Alder has created, the descriptive scenes enabled comedic virtual images to play out in my head making each scene colorful, enjoyable and very entertaining. From the Ball, the queen bitch encounters, the variety of secondary characters, the hidden threats, the suspense and danger, the occasional sexy times and the world-building was all very creative, well-paced and intricately woven to reveal a real paranormal gem. I will admit I thought the heroine sounded more like a rebellious child in the beginning but, as this skilful author drew me further in on her enchanted journey, that image was soon lost and a feisty, independent, geeky, shy, endearing, loving heroine emerged. The hero was just a big ol teddy bear you want to hug and kiss.. and when his alpha possessive protective side comes out you want to drool and dream too!!
Worth a credit? Definitely, if you want a lighter paranormal romance that has a few sexy times but it’s not seeped in them, that’s got hidden danger, a good who dunnit plot (that carries over to the next book) and an unconventional quirky insta-romance between true mates - then you’ve just found your next book. And the narration was excellent too.

Hysterically Funny & Irreverent Paranormal Romance
Don't you love it when a "first" book you listen to makes you immediately want to buy the entire series? That's what happened with this book. Within the first few chapters I stopped listening for just a moment to search and buy the other books --- they weren't there. NO...NO...NO. I NEED a My Commander fix NOW!!!
This is the funniest paranormal romance I've heard. It takes irreverent pokes at society. The author wrote things that I've often wanted to say and sometimes did much to my embarrassment. They say "the truth will set you free" and Meryn Evans spoke it with a good dose of "hoof and mouth disease". If you want tears running down your face with laughter, pee in your pants giggles and a snort thrown in for good measure, then listen to this book. Meryn takes on paranormal high society in the funniest way.
Aiden McKenzie, the Apha Unit's Commander, is out patrolling when a tiny human climbs the warded fence and throws his life into chaos. A human is his mate and she is everything he doesn't need to fit into his station in life. Not only is she human, she is an introverted geek and a computer genius. So, after she knocks him out (spoiler alert) he does the only thing he knows how to do. He locks her in the trunk and takes her home to his parents. They can figure out what to do with her. Let the hi-jinks begin.
I saw that one person hated the narrator. I thought she did an awesome job with her characters. Maybe that reviewer just doesn't have the same sense of humor that I do. Take the time to listen to the sample to see if the author's humor is the same as yours. It definitely tickled my funny bone. The only negative is the book stopped too soon and I felt left hanging as if I was at the end of a chapter rather than the end of a book. Otherwise, it's a 5 star laugh out loud book of wonder.
If you hurry, this book is a whispersync $.99 Kindle and $1.99 audiobook when purchased together. (5/1/17)
There are 8 -12 books (includes novellas) in the "Bewitched and Bewildered" series and sadly, this is the only one in audio format at the present time. Alanea Alder also has another 8 book series, "Kindred Of Arkadia". This author could be my "New Favorite" author if the other books are similar to this one. Now if Audible would just publish the other books in audio format.
Over 28,000 people on Goodreads rated both series with an average of between 4.19 - 4.38. We couldn't all be wrong.

I purchased this book back in the summer of 2016, I love this author and this series, but the first narrator was not very good. Apparently authors do listen (I wasn't,t the only negative review) and found a much better narrator. Thank you Ms Alder. Please do whispersinc if you can, for we fans who like print and audio.

Laugh out Loud.
This is a great, light read full of romance and hysterically funny sketches. The guys buying tampons skit had tears running down my face from laughing so hard. What irritates me most - there are 9, that right NINE, books in this series and Amazon has only one. This series is hilarious, narrator is wonderful and I really wish I could continue listening to the rest of the books.

Fan-fucking-tastic!!!
Honestly I’ve never written a review for a book before but there was no way I could skip writing one for this one. I literally have an overflowing library of books I have read and My Commander is seriously with out a doubt the funniest book I’ve ever read. I couldn’t put it down. It was just that entertaining. It has a great story, a hilarious, very relateable, strong heroine that is an introvert to boot. An amazing alpha male. Jokes all around, yet still there’s suspence and something happening in every scene.
I couldn’t put the book down, not that I wanted to.
I bought it half heartedly, with a brief glance at the reviews. I didn’t have high expectations but I didn’t have any low ones either. This was one purchase that I will not regret.

What a story!
Not your usual shifter sex antics that you come to expect in shifter books. This book actually had a back story, a heroine with flaws, a loving hero who adored her because of her flaws, a supportive family and lots of friends for a girl who had neither for most of her solitary life. I just loved this book, it had me laughing out loud, getting strange looks from my husband. I can't wait for the next one to come out, with the mate who keeps having accidents!

Brilliant
This is a brilliant book as it stands but the narrator made it come alive for me. I would recommend this book to everyone

Great story love that the characters are not simmering teens or twenty somethings however not great narration
It is a shame that the narration did not capture the book well. The reader did not seem to be able to convey any of the non-human characters and with that some of the great humour was lots. If you have time read the book

must read or audio book
A book you never get tired of reading or listening to. Well narrated, still think it would have been even better with multiple narraters, the charraters would have come across better. As the charraters are one of the books strengths .

Enjoyable read and quite funny in parts,.
The story whilst enjoyable and humerous in parts, could have done with a bit more background to the story to flesh it out a bit more as part of a series.

Couldn’t get through the first few chapters.
This book was upsetting as I thought I’d found another good series comparable to Molly Harper’s works, but sadly I should not have wasted my time. The main female character gets kidnapped and after 5 mins seems to be alright with that, even moving in with her kidnapper the next day. Alright it’s a romance book, but a little more self preservation please.
Also, I didn’t like the lack of women in the new world she gets thrown into, where men run everything, no women on the council, or in the military, etc. Where I got up to there was only one other woman mentioned (the mother of the hero), perhaps all the women from that world had run away for the lack of anything better to do, or something more sinister is afoot. I wasn’t going to waste more time finding out, so I returned the book.
