Publisher's Summary

My Always One - Friends-to-lovers stand-alone

When we were young, Samantha Anderson was the girl down the street. For as long as I remember, she’s been my partner in crime, in adventures, and in almost everything. Sami is fun and sexy, my greatest confidant, and my best friend.

From early on, we vow that our relationship will never change - through thick and thin, we’ll remain always and forever in the friend zone. We will not cross that line.

After all, I’m not a forever kind of guy.

Then that line blurs.

We amend our agreement.

Best friends become friends with benefits.

Is this new agreement the key to our future? Or will I lose my best friend?

My Always One is a new, fun, and sexy friends-to-lovers contemporary romance. A steamy stand-alone, My Always One is not connected to any other of Aleatha’s Lighter Ones and may be enjoyed on its own.

THEY ARE BEST FRIENDS

This is one of the worst books I’ve ever listened to, and I’ve had some doozies.

It’s just meh for me

We get it. He is massive and her “honey is sweet”. If I never hear those phrases again, it will be too soon. Glad this was free. It’s an easy listen but I did have to fast forward through some of the gratuitous sex scenes as it just got old and repetitive. Like, super repetitive.

Sami’s dad

I really appreciated Sami’s dad’s character. Many LOL moments. I don’t particularly care for the usage of the word “honey” but that’s just me. The narrator for Marshal wouldn’t be my choice. His voice doesn’t fit my imagination but again, that could just be me. Hahaha………I loved the story. It was much more believable than a lot of other stories I’ve read. Thank you for a great book and a great listen.

Big fan

I am a big fan of the friends to lovers books and read teen to adult versions. I live that this one didn't drag on with the "oh no we can't cause we will lose our friendship" drama and make the entire story about it but still gave it it's due. the sex was steamy but not what the book was about since we got to know and love/hate characters before that. Well written!

Not Really a Fan

The story would be cute if only there were several things that were changed. I don't care for a weak heroine and is basically a push over. I have never been a fan of turn the other way and take the high road when there are good reasons not to do so. I don't blame the narrators because they couldn't save or make the story worse. There is more to say but I am going to leave it at this. I would still give the author another change I just wasn't didn't care for this one.

Friends to lovers

They’ve known each other since they were kids. They have a pact to remain friends. Marshal prefers no strings sex. He’s not a commitment type of guy. He doesn’t believe in love and forever. Sami wants forever with career, friends, and a man.
There was a pact of friendship to never cross the line. It started as a rescue mission ending with a friends with benefits. They have different life goals. He wants to continue hooking up with women never settling down.

This was an okay listen. It could’ve been better. The writing style was a little lacking. I wasn’t entirely committed to these characters. I didn’t feel the connection. I’m disappointed because I like friends to lovers. This one didn’t grip my attention.
So much useless dialogue decreased my interest in this book. The dialogue was super cheesy. The transition from the present to past memories was confusing. I should be consumed by the erotica of the dirty talk instead I’m rolling my eyes at the absurdity of the dialogue. This was not Aleatha’s greatest writing.

Narrators:
Callie Dalton is the voice of Sami.
Joseph Discher is the voice of Marshal.
This is a dual performance. I listened at 1.9x speed using the audible app.

Yeah not for me... not an backdoor sex fan

Anal just ain't sexy plus Marshal is just an awful misogynist who uses women as casually as he used kleenex. He cant remember a conquests name so he repeatedly refers to her as 'Ms. Tirs and Ass'. After the revelation he has feelings for the FMC, every chapter,, every encounter he comments on her 'f-ing fantastic rack' each conversation he has with her.. I love when my hubby compliments me too geez, talk about the MMC objectifying the FMC. And she just gives in to any man's desire, sexual or otherwise... can you say doormat?! She even looks the other way when she knows of illegal activity victimizing other women in order to get off the hook for $$. Yuck Inexcusable 🤮!
I guess you could say the Storyline was interesting, but predictable w/ some parts were unnecessarily crude... and the 1st sex scene was ok almost spicy but once they started anal action it was a total turn off!!
Hard to find any romance after he's slept with half of Grand Rapids. The book not my cup of tea at all!

Light and sweet

Such a fun little book! Steamy, lighthearted with just a teeny tiny bit of angst, and a sweet HEA. Perfect! My first from this author and will definitely listen to more. Great narration

Unrealistic and uncomfortably cringe

In my opinion the storyline was hugely unrealistic and it was hard to beleive in the main characters relationship after it had been genuinely platonic for so many years for both of them and then to switch to being insatiable was a stretch to follow as a plot. For me, I like a bit of a build up and some chemistry beforehand.

Also, it was pretty much smooth sailing for them throughout the whole book. half way through, where turmoil could have been added, the chapter ended with what I thought was going to be where it got exciting but then the next one started with 'Three months later...' and completely bypassed it!

Not for me, but it's included in the membership so at least I didn't waste a credit!

Great friends to lovers story.

Friends to Lovers. This book was great! I didn't expect to be consumed by the story, but I was. I love Marshall encouraged Sami teach her ex a well deserved lesson for trying rip her parents after all that he already did to hurt her with his deceit . Love how the story explored many aspects of a relationship, both good and the bad. Trust, honesty, friendship and loyalty were the strongest points. The book is warm, witty and so much fun. It will have you thinking about the story for a long
