Publisher's Summary

Agatha Christie's most famous murder mystery, recorded by the director and star of the blockbuster film adaptation, Kenneth Branagh.

Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must identify the murderer - in case he or she decides to strike again.

Absolutely excellent

I love Murder on the Orient Express, I loved reading it and I loved the movie featuring the wonderful Kenneth Branagh. He has a fantastic voice that brought all the characters to life and drew you in. I’d listen to it while driving and when I got home I’d stay in the car and keep listening for a while longer. Very good audiobook

Great narration of a classic story

Kenneth Branagh does an excellent job of bringing to life the characters from one of Agatha Christie's most iconic works. Definitely worth listening to, even if you already know the story.

Good for the Little Grey Cells.

This book is an excellent reminder of Christie's brilliant story telling and ability to play out a mystery. Wonderfully narrated. Highly recommend.

There’s a reason this is a classic

Such a great story, still today. Ms Christie weaves a wonderful, engaging story full of well thought out characters and an intriguing mystery. Mr Branagh reads beautifully and does wonders to bring you in to the story. As a younger audience, I’m glad I made the effort to listen to this. It really is as great as its reputation.

Great book, excellent narration

This audio version of my favourite Agatha Christie novel was very entertaining. It has prompted me to seek out and rewatch that wonderful, lush film version from the '70's, with Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall and Ingrid Bergman. I enjoyed Branagh's narration, too, but - I must say, his narration here is FAR superior to his own direction and acting in the recent filmed remake!

Perfect narration for a timeless classic

Agatha Christie's books have always been worth a read and don't really need an appraisal (it's a classic, you know its a good book). SO all you really need to know is that the narrator does a excellent job in bringing this story to life. His accents are great and you really get a feel for all the characters

His accents are very good

Would you listen to Murder on the Orient Express again? Why?

I don't think so. I was reading the book at the same time as listening to it, so I hardly missed anything.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything is a clue! Damn it was too clever!!

Which character – as performed by Kenneth Branagh – was your favorite?

The sweedish woman. it was quite close to how it should sound. Anyhow what impressed me is that he utelized many aaccents that sounded very convincing!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh when I got things right and at some other things.

Any additional comments?

Really good! And very fun!

The best piece of spoken theatre

Agatha Christie's words read out perfectly and masterfully by Kenneth Branagh. He was simply sublime - acting out every character as though there really was an entire cast involved in the production. Highly recommended as it is an absolute treat!

Disappointing was expecting better

With her most famous book being read by such a thespian I wes expecting more from this narration. The narrative especially the first few chapters felt rushed,as though he was doing a practice read through before a scene. The accents were all over the place, which I don't think was helped by the strange voice he gave to the doctor,it was a wonder he hadn't lost his voice by the end! Although not terrible I now wish I had got the David suchet version

Kenneth Brannagh does justice to a classic

Wonderful story from start to finish but a tad short for my liking.

Wonderful Christie wonderfully performed.

l love this book by the Mistress of Murder. While l enjoyed the version read by Dan Stevens, l prefer Kenneth Branagh's performance as the great little Belgian. His voice and characterisation is much closer to the Poirot of the novels and short stories. The denouement is a perfect example of how the Great Dame of Mystery and whodunits could compile the most complex series of facts, distractions and red herrings into a perfect and believable conclusion.

I wish i could give it ten stars

A well loved detective story and an incredible performance by Kenneth Branagh. A sympathetic interpretation at times moving. I particularly appreciate his rendering of Hercule Poirot as he avoids completely the trap of the grotesque emphasis in which many actors have fallen.

Amazing.

I loved it. Did you guess who did it? It is very hard 🙂. I'll give you a clue;
Everyone has a Motive BUT Everyone has an Alabi for the SUSSPOSED murder time.
So who did it???
I first thought it was The American detective.
