MEET ABBY FINCH. SHE’S THE BUSY MUM OF THREE, AN EXPERT GARDENER AND THE STAR OF YOUR NEW FAVOURITE COZY MURDER MYSTERY.

In the peaceful Cotswolds village of Maybridge, you wouldn’t expect to find a dead body in the rose garden. And certainly not two.

Abby is horrified to discover the bones of a baby buried under a rose bush. It’s in the garden of her soon-to-be ex-husband Howard’s family home.

She immediately calls the police. But she can’t get hold of Howard. He’s off on a jolly with the woman he’s got pregnant.

And then, just two days later, Abby finds Howard himself.
Lying dead in the very same rose garden.
Throat slashed with her own garden spade.

Now Abby is the prime suspect . . .

Great narration, and a good story, but I didn't finish it because the main character was too annoying. She's far too accommodating and overly empathetic with people doing her wrong, and it started to grate on my nerves.

Couldn't Finish It

I had to write a review to say I liked the reasonable, insightful, mature and warm main character. She’d make a loyal friend.
Many crime fictions have very flawed lead detectives etc which can be a bit cliched. This sleuth was charming and mindful of her children’s needs, friend’s needs and the needs of the police. She maintained a steadiness when much was thrown her way. Just a nice change.
The narration was a little jarring initially for my Aussie ears, creeping towards highly stressed harpy. I suppose this fit with the turmoil within.
Nothing so far fetched that it could pull you out of the story as you listen.
I will definitely listen to this author again. So glad Audible makes this easy.

Enjoyable, Who done it!

The narration is wonderful and the characters and plot were engaging but I found the story to be a bit more sordid and bleak than I expect from a cozy mystery. I agree with the other reviewer that the main character can be annoyingly spineless at times. A good book let down by a deceptive description.

Not as cozy as I expected
