Story
Harry Arno runs a South Miami Beach gambling operation. To protect his position, he was forced to cut a deal with the local muscle, Jimmy Capotorto (Jumbo Jimmy Cap), an even fifty-fifty split. U.S. Marshalls deliver Harry to court to testify at Jimmy's trial. Even though he's a step slower than he used to be, Harry's no fool - he slips out of the country pronto.

Publisher's Summary
Tony Paradiso - aka Mr Paradise - gets his kicks from watching old football games on TV accompanied by live entertainment: sexy cheerleaders shaking their pom-poms and doing rah-rah routines for his viewing pleasure. But for Chloe Robinette, playing dress-up doesn't end so well when she's caught in the crossfire of a contract hit. There are witnesses to the murders - Paradiso's right-hand man, Montez Taylor, and Chloe's roommate, Kelly - but neither is giving too much away. Because Montez and Kelly have a score in mind, a big payoff from Mr Paradise's estate - if only Kelly can convince the cops she's someone else....

Good story, disappointing narration
A good story about low lifes, cheerleaders and criminals, with trademark Elmore Leonard dialogue, but spoilt by the narration. The narrator, Robert Forster, makes little effort with character voices and they all sound fairly similar. He also doesn’t uses pauses enough to break up both the dialogue and narration, so as to highlight what’s important and to dramatise the important moments. Also, to give room for laughter.
The story feels like an almost unbroken flow of words that makes listening an effort rather than a pleasure.
