Story
In Disunited Nations, geopolitical strategist Peter Zeihan presents a series of counterintuitive arguments about the future of a world where trade agreements are coming apart and international institutions are losing their power. Germany will decline as the most powerful country in Europe, with France taking its place. Every country should prepare for the collapse of China, not North Korea. We are already seeing, as Zeihan predicts, a shift in outlook on the Middle East: it is no longer Iran that is the region’s most dangerous threat, but Saudi Arabia.

Escaping the efforts of panicking elites, we can advance an ecolibertarian agenda for both politics and practical action in a broken world.

Story
Citing a wealth of research data and drawing on illustrative anecdotes, The Burnout Challenge shows how organizations can change to promote sustainable productivity. Christina Maslach and Michael P. Leiter provide useful tools for identifying the signs of employee burnout, most often exhaustion, cynicism, and ineffectiveness. They also advise managers on assembling and interpreting worker self-evaluation surveys, which can reveal workplace problems and potential solutions. And when it comes to implementing change, Maslach and Leiter offer practical, evidence-driven guidance.
Publisher's Summary
Where will you live in 2030? Where will your children settle in 2040? What will the map of humanity look like in 2050?
In the 60,000 years since people began colonising the continents, a recurring feature of human civilisation has been mobility - the constant search for resources and stability. Seismic global events - wars and genocides, revolutions and pandemics - have only accelerated the process. The map of humanity isn't settled, not now, not ever.
As climate change tips toward full-blown crisis, economies collapse, governments destabilise and technology disrupts, we're entering a new age of mass migrations - one that will scatter not just the dispossessed but all of us. Which areas will people abandon and where will they resettle? Which countries will accept or reject them? As today's world population, which includes four billion restless youth, votes with their feet, what map of human geography will emerge?
Here global strategy advisor Parag Khanna provides an illuminating and authoritative vision of the next phase of human civilization - one that is both mobile and sustainable. As the book explores, in the years ahead people will move to where the resources are and technologies will flow to the people who need them, returning us to our nomadic roots while building more secure habitats. Move is a fascinating look at the deep trends that are shaping the most likely scenarios for the future. Most importantly, it guides each of us as we determine our optimal location on humanity's ever-changing map.

Very informative
Great book overall, very interesting, detailed, and informative. Got me to rethink my perspective on the environmental change and how it impacts us all. Some issues - I don’t know whether it is to do with the narration or it is written this way, there is no clear boundary between chapters and parts, and I often felt lost. I found there is quite a bit of repetition, and the book could have been shorter. Finally, some inaccuracies. States in Australia consistently referred to as provinces made me cringe. Australia cited as a country with a universal healthcare system but Russia wasn’t is definitely a misrepresentation of the facts. Australia doesn’t have a universal healthcare system. It is heavily reliant on private health funds that cover the gap between what Medicare covers and what it doesn’t, for example dental treatment. And even then, a certain portion of the medical bills will be out of pocket due to the fact that the Medicare benefit schedule hasn’t been indexed in over 10 years, while medical fees and costs doubled in that time. In Russia however the healthcare system is truly universal and 100% free, and covers everything. Unlike in Australia, where the Medicare levy is charged and increases with the age of the taxpayer.
