"Горное гнездо" — роман, опубликованный в "Отечественных Записках" в 1884 году и закрепивший за Маминым-Сибиряком репутацию выдающегося писателя-реалиста.

В объяснении к первому изданию романа Мамин-Сибиряк рассказывал, что означает "Горное гнездо". Так на Урале именовали сообщество государственных горных инженеров. Автор же под этим названием объединял и вовсе всех тех, кто верховодил всеми делами на Урале. Остросатирическое произведение о несостоятельности "магнатов" уральских горных заводов как организаторов промышленности. Автор изобразил жизнь Урала в пореформенные годы, капитализацию России и связанную с этим процессом ломку общественного сознания, норм права и морали.
