Publisher's Summary

After fulfilling a pledge to a dying friend, Zacharias Hamilton is finally free. No family entanglements. No disappointing those around him. Just the quiet bachelor existence he's always craved. Until fate snatches his freedom away when the baker of his favorite breakfast bun is railroaded by the city council. Despite not wanting to get involved, he can't turn a blind eye to her predicament...or her adorable dimples.

Abigail Kemp needs a man's name on her bakery's deed. A marriage of convenience seems the best solution...if it involves a man she can control. That person definitely isn't the stoic lumberman who oozes silent confidence whenever he enters her shop. Control Zacharias Hamilton? She can't even control her pulse when she's around him.

When vows are spoken, Abigail's troubles should be over. Yet threats to the bakery worsen, and darker dangers hound her sister. Can she put ever more trust in Zach without losing her dreams of independence?

Excellent

This was well done on all accounts. My attention was maintained through out. The scriptural references were very appropriate . Excellent!

Expected Better

I was anticipating this book for a year since I LOVED Zacharias from the first book, I wanted to see him finally get peace and love, and he did get that .. but for some reason I didn't like many parts of the story, his character changed so fast that I feel he is a different person all together, I wanted the broody, lonely Zac to change but I wanted more from the story than this, most of the story just a filler until they finally become " husband and wife ", I wanted to enjoy the story more than I did but let's see what will happen with Rosalyn
As a side note, I never understand the story where the main character kiss and date and sleep together and they still wonder if they love each other !!! I mean, if you do all that and you are still not sure of how you feel when will you ???? really weird

Christian romantic fiction

Great engaging story. Romantic without the uncomfortable sexual details so you can listen in the car with kids. The main character's strong faith in God is what gets her through life's challenges.

A gem

Great story that I didn’t want to pause. Abigail and Zach’s relationship was sweet and funny. I laughed out loud several times—even scaring my dog once! Individually, they showed their depth of character bit by bit, becoming more relatable with every chapter. Definitely going to read more Karen Witemeyer’s books!

Absolutely loved this book. Adorable characters, super steamy, clean romance and a fun plot. Plus, Barbara McCulloh is always spot-on in her narrative. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed this Story

Another great book by Karen Witemeyer. This is the second book in the series Patchwork Family. I enjoyed this book as much as the first. I would recommend both books. The characters are very easy to love. This story has a message of healing and forgiveness as well as trust. Well written and enjoyable.

Enchanting and witty

Karen Witemeyer certainly delivers in this delightful tale. Her characters exhibit charm, grit and integrity as they navigate the uncertain terrain of marriage, partnership, and mutual respect, all while falling in love. Written with equal parts grit and truth, the story blends Biblical lessons with hard choices and shows that trust and faith sometimes require time and a little earthly prodding to acquire. The narrator was a pleasure to listen to, each inflection and emotion thoughtful and accurate. A must read!

Not believable

I thought the dumb junior high romance was dumb and distracting and took too much of the story.

2nd Book in the Series

Must say I enjoyed book 2 just as much if not more than book 1 in the series. Couldn't imagine how Ms. Witemeyer was going to give Zach a happy ever after but she did it in a wonderful and humorous way.
