Publisher's Summary

It was called Jade Dragon…and it threatened to destroy the West.

Was an attack on the US imminent?

In a lab deep in the heart of China, a brilliant engineer had a breakthrough. It was the most powerful AI ever created. Ma Young believed the Jade Dragon could combat the world’s most dire challenges. There was just one problem...the president of China had other ideas. Was this their chance to conquer?

The war began at the speed of light. The entire NATO alliance stood on the brink of destruction. Cyber attacks, deepfakes, and a wave of social media disinformation wrought fear and desperation across the globe. The sleeping giant was awake. Could Ma stop his creation?

An awesome thriller given a spot-on performance!

A new series kicks off! A brilliant mix of war in espionage thrills with a fresh start. This new story takes the current trends in technology and warfare to make a truly unique thriller. It is definitely a 2020s themed story, From developments in modern warfare and politics to how affects economics and personal lives. I really liked all the new vehicle battles. Of which, there is a lot! Some would bring back memories of Red Storm Rising and even Dale Brown's books for me. From new weapons currently in development to the ones fighting for freedom today. (Imagine if this was made into a video game?).

What really sells it this time round is Marc Vietor's performance. He was a perfect match for this story. His commanding, powerful voice takes on many forms of dramatic performance and knew about everything he was reading. (minus his pronunciation of Hue City, of course.) I loved his voice in Red Metal and same here!

I also like that the Chinese get some character development. Really gives the other side more depth too. They feel more like another side as opposed to just bad guys for the sake of it. This book is not afraid to challenge the misdeeds taken by the Beijing government or the private companies such as Alibaba or Tencent. That said, though, I'm just not a fan of the pandemic subplot - a bit too close to home for me (a rather touchy name is used several times too. Didn't like that). Most importantly, in my opinion, the story presents something new and different. A new generation of stories for a new decade that's already defied past predictions.

So if you like stories about espionage, war and political chess set in a close-to-home world that may very well be? I'd recommend this one and the ones to come for certain!

5 stars in all respects.

Have enjoyed all the previous books by these amazing authors but this latest one, the beginning of a new series, has to be my favourite yet.

Brilliant story, different enough from the norm to be truly thrilling, bit still within the realms of being completely believable.

Fantastic reading as always by Marc Vietor, so live his work.

Can't wait for the next book in the series!

most enjoyable

I love these authors, well researched, well put together stories. As ex military I am hard to please when it comes to military based stories.
