About this listen
A mysterious island.
An abandoned orphanage.
A strange collection of very curious photographs.
It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that makes for a thrilling listening experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets 16-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow - impossible though it seems - they may still be alive.
A spine-tingling fantasy, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

I read this in preparation for the movie that comes out in September. Unfortunately, it's going to be like every other book to movie.... book is always better.Enjoyable Story

The story is promising, but the author “hints” at things to come with a thud. I’m going to give the second book a go because I see there is a new narrator and I’m also hoping that the author has honed his story telling skills some more.
Woeful narration

The narrator was pretty average though and didn't pull off the accents that well, however it's worth persisting with since they get a new narrator for the rest of the series who is fantastic
Fantastic series

Fun and entertaining
Only draw back is the narrators performance
Voice is bearable once you get used to it but his accents are atrocious and very hard to listen to at points
Excellent story

What made the experience of listening to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children the most enjoyable?
I think I really enjoyed the reader. The way that he read the different characters really made me laugh. The story was really interesting too, mysterious kept you guessing and it kept me engaged... Some nights I did not go to sleep because I was still listening. I am really looking forward to listening to the next book.Who was your favorite character and why?
My favourite character was Miss Peregrines. She was like a beautiful mother hen and I loved the way she told people off in the story. I really liked the one scene when she when she gave Jacob a piece of her mind after he had told her "kids" about life in the future. I also really enjoyed the two kids who took Jacob part way to the old house. Their rapping made me laugh out loud.. literally.Have you listened to any of Jesse Bernstein’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This is the first time I have listened to his performance but I will be listening to more, I can assure you.If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
