Restaurant owner Tom Fearnes has loved his partner Cass for as long as he can remember, but their work often keeps them apart. When he meets a striking young man named Jake on the vibrant streets of Camden Town, their heady first encounter takes an unexpected turn.

Jake Thompson can hardly believe his luck when he wakes up in Tom's bed. Tom is gorgeous, kind, and...taken. Tom's explanation of his open relationship leaves Jake cold, but Tom is too tempting, and when hard times force Jake to accept Tom's helping hand, he finds himself between two men who've lost their way.

Cass Pearson is a troubled soul. He loves Tom with all he has, but some days it feels like he hasn't much to give. Jake seems like the perfect solution. Cass risks everything to push Jake and Tom together, but Jake resists, wary, until the darkness of Cass's deprived childhood comes to call. Then Jake finds himself the last man standing, guiding square pegs into round holes, and it's time to dig deep and shine a light for the men he's grown to love.

London restaurant entrepreneur, Tom, and his chef partner, Cass, have a committed open relationship but spend more time working than is healthy for the relationship. When Tom meets Jake, things start to shift. I felt this romance might be a more common way that couples become thruples, with the established pair inviting a third person into their relationship. I liked Garrett Leigh’s sparse prose, her working class heroes, and her careful portrayal of a character with Tourette’s Syndrome. Great stuff!

Loved this! 🥰

Another good read/listen from Garret, As usual the guys are ordinary guys going about their lives, getting the tube, working long hours….so relatable to most people which I think is why it makes them so likeable.

Loved the dynamic between all three characters and the way they were there for each other in their own ways. The slow build up of Jake and Cass was the opposite of the instant spark between Jake and Tom. Enjoyed the fact that instead of being a possible spoke in the relationship, Jake’s presence brought Tom & Cass closer. His Tourette’s was dealt with sensitively and I liked how both the other characters dealt with it in different ways. The narration of it was good too, sounded so natural and not forced.

Misfits fit well together
